It was her first Christmas back home with the family.

It feels like a life time since all four of them were under one roof and celebrating Christmas again.

None of it felt real.

Not even during the first weekend of December when they pulled out all the decorations and decorated the house ready for the 25th.

Not even as Christmas eve had snuck up on them and left them all doing their last few Christmas eve traditions together.

She knew her parents and her brother felt the same.

They'd be smiling and joking and just being a family again, but for a split second they'd all glance around and trying to figure out if this was going to be another dream.

None of them ever woke up, but they still feared they would.

She's spoken with her fellow paladins, all of them stuck using the internet or actual phone calls to stay in touch. Shiro had mostly taken to writing letters, he's had enough of technology for a bit even with his alien-garrison prosthetic arm.

Keith preferred actual phone calls over the landline, even if they're only a minute long and could have been a simple text. He'd prefer to hear the voices, to speak and know that they've all heard him as he hears them.

Lance's texts through the internet, working on his farm and helping his family leaves him with little time to check his phone or to gain much single. Leaving him to only chat when he had wifi at the house and catch up on messages or missed calls once he's settled at home for the night.

Hunk is a texter, he likes it written down where he could re-read replies or be able to have a reminder over something spoken about. He likes the freedom of deleting his inbox's when they grow too full. Never been a huge fan of the internet group logs, ones that never delete but takes forever to scroll years back.

For her, she liked emails. She was able to deal with letters, texts, calls and internet chats. But she likes emails mostly. Emails let you add videos, photos and let her rant when she needed to blurt everything out.

But they've all stayed in contact, communicated differently between one another. Kept their second family together and keeping their bond strong. They might not live in the same country anymore or be on the same planet, but they were all connected still.

She knows it's the same for her brother. He still times calls and communication with his alien phone to all his rebel pals. Even saving numbers of love ones or friends to the fallen, checking up on them now and then to make sure they're safe and able to live comfortable even with their lost.

Her Dad does the same with a few prisoners he had worked beside. Checking in on them and helping them to gain medica care when needed. He flies out to see them, knowing some have taken to stay hiding into their new homes, scarred by their prison life.

And her mum, she's still got addresses, names and plenty of ways to communicate with all the people she had joined together to get the Garrison to do something and help with the war. Getting the Holt's, Garret's, McClain's and anyone else willing to stand up to the Garrison to save the lost children.
