HOPE YOU HAVE A JOLLY READ
PLEASE BE AN ELF AND MAKE A VOTE
Lance felt like a fool as he stomped through the thick and deep snow. Forming a path through the snow for others who'd struggle to walk through such piled up snow.
He normally didn't mind but lately he's been struggling to understand his use in the north pole. To know why Santa had blessed him with a soul in his wooden body and gave him life.
Santa's job was to read all the wishes of humans over what they'd desire most for Christmas that year. Flying across the world on Christmas eve to deliver all those who have been nice enough to gain a present left behind by the big man in green.
Mrs Claus was busy caring for the reindeers and her husband all year around. Baking sweet treats and making up lovely hot chocolates for all to enjoy. Glancing to the naughty and nice list, giving children a second chance to swap from the naughty list to the nice.
The reindeers job were to stay fit and healthy to work a single night throughout the year and take Santa across the whole world to reach each and every house needed to be visited.
The snowmen hopped around and helping to keep the north pole protected and unfound by humans. Using their magic to keep the north town completely hidden from human eyes and the sounds of the elves singing hidden from their ears.
And the elves.
The elves were given a list of names and created a special present just for that person in mind. Building what they were able to give to the person, feeling the person's heart and creating something that was thought from the glimpse of their souls alone.
Not every huma is gifted a Christmas present they had wished for but all had been been created with them in mind.
And for Lance.
He was the only nutcracker about.
He's seen nutcrackers carved by doors, acting as guardians and protectors in statue alone. He's seen nutcrackers be created and build as decorations and presents for the humans.
But none had been alive as he was.
Lance didn't understand his meaning to Santa's village, held no reason for his needed use.
Hence he found himself in his favourite elf's work hut once more and ready to spend all his spare huddled inside. It's grown to be another home for the pair of them and Lance knew he'd always be welcomed there. Even if he was teased or insulted a few times during his stay by the sassy elf.
Clearly his less bright greeting and goofily smiling less welcome had gone notice as the elf had seemed surprised to see it was him entering her work hut before furrowing eyebrows in confusion over his lack of warm and holiday season greetings.
"Where's my free supply of holiday cheer?" Pidge asked with a raised eyebrow but joking manner in hopes to brighten his mood, hurrying towards her tool wall in need of another tool.
