She wasn't sure where she was or what direction to head in. She looked around but it was starting to grow dark now evening was approaching and the chill in the air proved the season to be winter.
A twig snapping close by left her looking around like a headless chicken and trying to spot anyone close by. Praying that she wasn't chased after somehow as she knew she wouldn't be able to out run them or actual fight back.
"S-Shiro?" Katie whispered out with caution, knowing better than to get her hopes up.
"Who the heck is Shiro? And why would he let a pretty thing like you-OW! That hurt" A stranger started to ask before yelping in pain as Katie whacked him with Shiro's hat like it was some type of weapon.
Both leaping back from the other, the stranger rubbing at his chest where he was smacked while Katie held the hat up and ready to use it as a weapon again if needed.
"It should. Y-You creep!" Katie snapped back, glaring towards the unknown man as she assumed the worse over him by being called a "pretty thing" moments before.
"Says the chick stalking around the woods in the middle of the night. Tricking innocent people into their entrapment" The stranger shot back with a grumble as he pointed an accusing finger towards her.
"You're not with Hira?" Katie asked surprised, starting to lower the hat as she caught on that he was assuming she was with Hira's group.
"Of course I'm not.. hang on, you aren't one of her goons?" He huffed back as if he's been insulted before falling quieter and looking a little confused as he realised she wasn't with Hira.
"I've just escaped from her. I need to find a way back up. My friend is still stuck up there" Katie answered honestly as she slipped Shiro's hat back on her head and showing herself to no longer be any type of threat to him. She saw no point to playing dumb or trying to lie to the stranger when he wasn't a threat to her right now.
"You're friend is a goner. The moment you earned any attention on their plans is the moment they'd deal with your friend to stop any chances of a second escape or being fought back. As soon as you showed signs of leaving, they'd have made a move on your friend. Sorry. Best to move forward without them" The stranger blurted back with a sad frown, shaking his head knowingly as he crossed his arms loosely over his stomach and leaned forward a few inches. Already assuming Shiro's fact, knowing how everyone else's fate ended with Hira and her people in the past.
"I can't just leave him to handle them alone. He's my friend. And he's helped me enough that I can't just leave him behind. Not when I know what they plan to do with him" Katie admitted without any hesitation, a small frown on her lips as she knew she couldn't just walk away and leave Shiro like that.
"He must be real special guy to risk getting captured for" The stranger commented with something in his eyes that she couldn't see in his eyes. His tone casual but knowing and a secret smile stretched at his lips.
