Side Note: Matthew's girlfriend in N-7. She's was a rebel on his team and she is kinda an humanoid. She's robot for the most part but she's also kinda a Cyborg. It's cannon that they're dating since it showed a tiny two second clip of them dating. 

Holidate's weren't even that bad of an idea.

It's perfect for those who aren't ready to settle down just yet but doesn't want to spend the holidays or certain holidays alone. 

A Holidate can be so many things at once and always be on the two people's own terms. 

It let everyone experience a holiday in a magical and fun way without leaving them longing to spend the holiday with someone. 

It also got family or friends off your back over dating if you showed up with a Holidate on those claimed special holidays. 

Katie loved having Keith as her Holidate. 

And she couldn't be a bad Holidate herself if Keith kept agreeing to being her Holidate. 

It all started the second year since the Voltron Lions had left all the paladins, the third year since the war was won. 

Colleen kept hinting over her daughter to start dating now she's got her life togehter again and was settled back on earth. Pointing out that Matthew had a girlfriend and was currently living with her too. 

Katie pretended to not notice her mother's obvious hints for the whole year, still busy with her work at the Garrison and missing Green who had recently left. But than she started having her mother visit her at work, dropping a few co-workers name that she thought would be a good start in the dating pool. Or whenever they were out at the city, her mother would suddenly bump into someone close to her daughters age and get the pair of them to finally meet. 

Katie wasn't going to allow her mother to try and randomly hook her up with people. 

For Keith, he was hot, skilled and a hero. Living out of Space meant he had a whole universe of fanboy, fangirls and fan-living beings after him. No matter what planet he landed on, someone held a crush or tried sliming into his pants.

Earth wasn't any better and Keith started to hide up in his ship whenever he could. But he was still expected to show his face as he held rebuild planets homes. As well as still wanting to visit his space family whenever he was flying nearby. 

He was also stuck having Christmas with Shiro on earth or the Atlas and that meant he was trapped with Christmas horny soldiers all around him half the time. 

He just wanted to go out without being harassed. 

Hence they both became each other's Holidate for the first Christmas after losing their lions. 

Neither were ready for a real relationship and both held trust issues that made dating more difficult than normal. More so when most of the people wanting to date them just liked them for their paladin title and not for them as a person. Proving why they couldn't just trust anyone showing interested.
