Gemma, and Harper's Struggles- Chapter Seventeen

It felt like hours to Gemma.

Her bubble of absolute silence, and never ending comfort. But, like all bubbles they would eventually pop.

Gemma opened her eyes to blackness. Her eyes then adjusted and saw that Penn was grabbing onto her.

She could feel her hands gripping at her arms pulling her up to the top.

Darkness rescinded quickly.
Where the color black was, there were a variant of colors.

"What were you doing Gemma?"

"I was? How long was I out. "

"You've been gone for hours Gemma. You even had me worried. And that's no small feat. Now, answer Gemma. What were you doing. "

"I was running from it all. " Penn stayed silent. "I needed some time to think. To reel my thoughts in. "

"And you thought lying at the bottom of the ocean would help?" Penn asked.

"It felt comforting. "

"Gemma, it may seem to you that I forced this gift upon you. But, you have to understand that we needed you to survive. You were important to us. Did you know what it meant to me when you finally accepted yourself. I was happy, happy to have a sister that I thought finally would be able to understand me, Lexi, and Thea." Penn explained.

Gemma saw this as her cue to respond. But, nothing came out. Her eyes looked into Penn's. Her eyes spoke of so many emotions, what has Penn been through? Gemma could only nod, not even feeling the feel to fight against her. It always Seemed like she was always at an eternal struggle against Penn. honestly, she was getting tired of it. So she didn't and looked at it as the first step in a somewhat friendly friendship with the leader of the Sirens.

Gemma swam side by side with Penn back to the house. Her mind calm, and the next thought she had on her mind was to talk to Lexi, then deal with Viserys. It seemed like drama would never quit around her.

"Daniel is here. " Harper yelled. But, was automatically given a death glare from the nearby librarian. Alex chuckled, as Harper only returned with her own death glare.

"So, have you guys found anything?" Daniel asked. Hugging Harper, as Alex looked away. He missed Gemma, and with the information they had they were no where closer to finding Gemma.

"Not so much. We found that sirens like warm places, but so far that's the only thing we found. " Harper sadly explained. Daniel lifted Harper's chin, their eyes meeting each other's. "So, what places do we know that are warm, or hot. There sirens so we know that they can swim long distances. So it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they reached another continent. "

"You think Gemma is on another continent?" Alex all but shouted as he stood up from his chair.

"I just have a feeling, Alex. From their departure they seemed like they wouldn't return. "

"If Gemma is on another continent. Which one do we think they picked." Harper questioned.

"I would guess Australia. Australia is known for their hot temperatures. "

"How do we know their in Australia and not another continent. "

"I guess we don't. "

"That's very reassuring. "

"You love me anyways. "

"Yes, I do. "
