Jen's POV:

Positive.

This can't be happening right now.

I look down at the little + staring back at me on the test and immediately start to panic. What will Josh say? Will he be mad? What about my career? What about his? Our future together, is this what we want?  Okay, breathe Jen. You'll be okay. Just try not to focus on it.

Another voice interrupts that thought, as if I'm in the position where a nice me and a mean me are sitting on both of my shoulders.

Try not to think about it? You're having a baby! This is going to affect your whole career, Josh's career... What if he's not ready for this? What if he gets angry?

The nice me interrupts these thoughts.

You're talking about the same Josh, right? The one who chose to propose to you and spilled his heart out to you at the premiere of probably your last movie together? The one who would do anything for you? Yeah, okay.

A knock on the door interrupts me from my thoughts all together. "Jennifer, are you okay?" I hear him call through the bathroom door. I take a deep breath and decide to tell him. I take a paper towel and wrap the test inside it and toss it in the garbage before smoothing out my hair and unlocking the door. The door squeaks open in protest, but it opens nonetheless, and Josh smiles at me when he sees me. "You okay?" He repeats. I smooth down my shirt subconsciously and smile back. "Yeah." I'm trying to think about when I should tell him when he tells me that breakfast is waiting downstairs. As we walk down the stairs, the scent of bacon fills the air and my mouth immediately starts to water.

He laughs when he notices my expression in reaction to the bacon; a smile so big I might as well be a five year old in a candy shop. "Someone's happy." He says with a grin. I rush over and fill my plate with a few pancakes and some extra strips of bacon. Casual conversation ensues as we eat, and Josh and I decide to head down to the pier today to look at the little shops and maybe stick our feet in the water.

After packing a few simple things in a beach bag, we head to the water. After we park the car, we head down the boardwalk hand in hand. All the shops on this beach have a very nice ocean theme to them, with the seashells and starfish decorations, and the fish netting. In a souvenir shop, Josh spots this little anchor necklace that looks a bit similar to the tattoo he has on the side of his chest. He decides to get it, and I get a matching one. What also catches my eye is this little shiny rock in a bowl with all these other rocks priced at 50 cents a piece. I hold it in my hand, and despite the rough edges it appears to have, it is surprisingly smooth. "You can get it if you want." Josh says, smiling as he watches me admire the rock. I smile back and say "You should get one too. Pick one out." "Okay." He whispers back as he walks over to the bowl with the polished rocks in it. He picks one out that is a bit smoother, but has crazy colors dotted along its surface. "This one's good." He says with a smile.

The shopkeeper smiles at us as we approach. She's an older lady, with a round, wrinkled face and a gentle, knowing smile. We place the necklaces on the counter, and she gives us a price for them. We then realize we've been holding on to the polished rocks in our hands without knowing, and when we place them on the counter, she smiles at us and says in a whisper "You keep them. No need to pay. Although may I see them? They have very interesting colors." We nod. She picks up Josh's rock and smiles. "Many different shades of grey in this one. Pink, too." The corner of Josh's mouth curls into a smile. "Hmm... Let me see yours?" She says to me. She picks up the rock on the counter and looks at it. "Ms. Lawrence, what you have here is a piece of obsidian. See the accents of blues and purples? That is obsidian. Very common here on Hawaii." It's my turn to smile. She mutters something under her breath that we can't quite catch, and then smiles at us. I look behind her to see some sketches on her wall drawn with charcoal. "Those are wonderful sketches, miss." She laughs for some odd reason and then points to her nametag. "Please" she says, "call me Diane. Oh, and thank you. I draw them... when the shop is not busy."
