[A/N: I changed the girl's name to Sophia in Chapter 40. I decided I liked that better. c:]

*Jen*

I'm violently tapping Josh's arm, urging him to wake up. My heart feels like it's going to pound right out of my chest, and my head begins to throb along with the area below my stomach. I croak out his name a few times before he wakes up, obviously sensing the panic in my voice. "Jen, what's wrong?" he asks patiently. "Josh. The babies. I don't...I can't..." He urges me to continue. "They're here, Josh." Nervousness and panic immediately overtakes his features, as I watch his mouth drop and his hazel eyes widen. "Get in the car." He shouts as he darts over to the closet and grabs the overnight bag we set aside for this day. I slip on my shoes and pull on my sweatshirt with a zip before grabbing the quickest hair tie I can find and pulling my hair up into the messiest bun ever. Josh grabs my hand and ushers me out the front door, ordering me to get in the car again as he locks the house.

The drive to the hospital is brutal. Los Angeles traffic combined with our equally shared stress and the sudden shoots of pain from contractions rocking my body. The entire time, I don't question him, knowing that I woke him up suddenly and he probably was not expecting this. To be honest, I wasn't either. The twins weren't supposed to come for another month. I only pray that nothing will be wrong with them and that they will be completely healthy.

Josh pulls the car up to the entrance of the emergency room, and we jump out and walk as quickly as we can through the sliding doors. The nurses waiting there give us their immediate attention, and Josh starts talking before I can tell them. Instead of pacing out his words, it sounds all strung together as if he just invented a new word. "Mywifeishavingtwins." As if on cue, I have another contraction, and the nurses instantly understand. One of them grabs a wheelchair and urges me to sit, and then starts wheeling me away from my husband. "No! Josh!" I call back. The other nurse in the room tells him that he will be able to see me soon as both of their voices fade away and they are torn from my view. I'm wheeled down seemingly endless corridors and finally placed in a room. The nurse who wheeled me down tells me that she is going to go get Josh.

Josh rushes into the room and his eyes lock with mine. "Jen!" He exclaims. "Why did they take you away?" I shrug and shake my head simultaneously. "I don't know." He grabs my hand and looks down at it quizzically, as if studying it. He kisses it. I look around the sterile white room and realize that this is happening. This is real. Soon, we will have two living breathing humans here in this big world. It suddenly becomes overwhelming, and I spill out my thoughts to Josh in a sudden wave. "Josh, I'm terrified. I just realized that this is actually happening and I'm so worried. What if they don't like me? What if I'm not a good mom? What if I screw something up and I can't deal with it and you're all the way in Europe filming a movie and I can't..." He shushes me and chuckles. "Jennifer. You are going to be such a good mom. I will tell you this time and time again I have no doubt that these babies will love you for who you are. They're yours." I smile. "Ours." I correct. He nods. "Ours." He pecks me on the lips and I grin through the kiss, but as he pulls away I grab the side of his face to keep him there. I capture his bottom lip in between my teeth and let it slide out again. He pulls away but brushes his lips with mine again, and we kiss until another pain shoots through my body. He opens his eyes and looks at me. "You okay?" He asks. I nod, and he kisses my forehead.

A man walks into the room and smiles at us. "Good morning evening afternoon." Josh and I laugh at his introduction. He nods at us and puts his Chromebook down on a small white table. "Usually covers all the bases time wise." He adds with a chuckle. "Doctor Landgraab, pleased to meet you both." We nod. "I'm assuming you're Mr. and Mrs. Hutcherson?" "Yes sir." Josh replies. Landgraab nods at him. "Now Mr. Hutcherson, it's H-U-T-C-H-E-R-S-O-N correct?" Josh nods again. "Okay, just want to be sure I have you in the system correctly. Rumor has it you were here back in 2011 for a mild concussion. Pleased to see you again, Josh." Josh chuckles with a grin. The doctor clears his throat. "Oooookaaayyy, so we have some babies coming." Another contraction hits and I cringe. The doctor smiles warmly at me. "You're the mother to be I see." I nod. He walks over to me and fastens a wristband to my arm. He then walks back over to his Chromebook and mutters to himself, typing my name in. "Jennifer....Hu...tcher...son." He picks up another wristband and walks over to Josh, fastening it on his wrist. "Just so that we don't think you're here for no reason." Josh nods, and Landgraab winks at him. I take a moment to read what my wristband says.

CHECKOUT:

"Okay, Jennifer, so since you're having twins we're not going to make you push out two babies so we're going to deliver your children by C-section. Just buzz us in with that yellow button on your bed right there...." He pauses to point to the button. "Buzz us in when your contractions really start picking up, okay?" I nod. "Okay, we'll check in with you in a few." "Thank you." Josh says. "Thanks." I add. Landgraab smiles and nods at us before leaving the room.

I let out a contained sigh and Josh grabs onto my hand, squeezing it tightly. "You're going to do so well, baby." He smiles proudly at me. I'm so nervous that all I can do is curve my lips up in a small smile. "I know what you're thinking, but you're going to do so well. You won't mess up with these kids, I promise." He smirks at me with a teasing tone. "I won't let you." I laugh.

We spend what feels like forever waiting. We hold hands the whole time, and exchange occasional kisses. Josh tries to comfort me when he notices my worry as my contractions pick up. It's not too long after that that I'm pressing the yellow button. After some conversation with the doctor and a nurse, as well as meeting our midwife, I'm being wheeled down to the operation room. An IV slowly drips different medicines into my blood stream to numb the pain and make me drowsy, so I don't feel a thing. Josh tries his best to keep up with the moving bed wheeling me down the hall, and talks to me continuously until my eyes shut. The last thing I feel is his lips on my hand.

Sunlight beams down into the hospital room when I open my eyes. I lift up my free hand, the other I soon learn has an IV connected to it. I use my free hand to rub my eyes, and my vision clears. I register the fact that we are in a completely different hospital room. There's a table next to the bed that I'm lying on, that has both of our phones, my clothes that I wore here, and what appears to be two fresh glasses of orange juice with bendy straws. I take the opportunity to sip the orange juice, and glance over in the other direction. What I see on that side of the room makes me grin like an idiot. Josh is slumped in a chair, his head resting on the chair's back, and he's deep in some elusive sleep. His mouth hangs just slightly open, and gentle snores emanate across the room. His brown hair is tangled and matted, and just the tiniest bit of drool is at the corner of his mouth, reflecting the sunlight. His eyes have dark grey bags underneath them. He's clearly exhausted, so I decide to just save the orange juice for him when he wakes up. Just as I'm looking around the room trying to figure out how to keep the juice covered, his head falls down towards his shoulder in his sleep and he wakes up suddenly. He blinks rapidly, then stretches out his arms and lets them fall to his side with a groan. His face registers disgust as he smacks his lips together and wipes the corner of his mouth with his shirt. He runs his hand through his hair and sighs. His bloodshot eyes widen when he sees me. "Jen..." He yawns. "Good morning sleepy head. How long did you stay up last night?" I ask. He takes a while to think. "Two." I give him a look of disbelief, but that disbelief changes quickly to realization. Of course he stayed up that late, Jen. Look at him. I glance at the wall clock. 8:30. "I owe you one, baby." He grins sarcastically. "Love you." I add. He scoffs teasingly. "Love you too. Are you ready to meet them?"

"As ready as I'll ever be." I respond.
