Jen's POV:

We're holding hands and sitting in silence when Josh hears a knock on the door. "I'll get it." He says. He unlocks the deadbolt and slides open the door.

"HUTCHERSON." I hear a familiar voice from the other side of the door. Oh no, I think. Not him.

Chris.

"You girl stealer! Give me Jen back." Chris tries to shove Josh aside to get to me, but Josh doesn't move. Josh's eyes are wide. "Whoa, whoa whoa! Easy, buddy. No need for violence." "I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE, JENNIFER! YOU SLEPT WITH HIM, DIDN'T YOU?" Chris shouts. I'm speechless. Well, I suppose I did in ONE way, but not the way Chris is implying. Nothing sexual.

"Easy, Chris." Josh says. "SHUT UP, GIRL STEALER!' Chris shouts. I hear an "oof!" coming from Josh. Josh turns his head to look at me. He's holding his jaw, wincing in pain. Wait. Did Chris just punch him?! This is when I stand up. "CHRIS!" I yell at him. "I don't know if it's hit you, yet. But WE BROKE UP! News flash!" "Yeah, well I want you back." I laugh at him mockingly. "..and you think punching my best friend and accusing me of sleeping with him is going to help you get me back? What book did you read? "How to get Girls Back for Total Douches?" This makes Josh laugh breifly, but he stops short, holding his jaw again. God, how hard did he hit him?

"Shut up, Jen." Chris hisses, shoving me aside successfully and grabbing Josh by the shirt. "Chris, what are you.." Josh begins...

..but that's not until Chris slams Josh into the wall.

There's a cry out of pain from Josh. "STOP IT, CHRIS!" I scream. "YOU'RE HURTING HIM!" But he ignores me, slamming him into the wall again. Josh tries to punch him back, but Chris grabs his arms and pins him to the wall.  This time, he holds him there, hissing, "If you EVER touch her again... I'll reenact Clove's death from your precious Hunger Games with YOURS. AND IT WON'T BE ACTING THIS TIME!" Chris throws another punch at Josh, and I see him slide to the floor.

I'm crying now. The only thing I think to do is grab Chris by the shirt. I slam HIM against the wall. With anger, I scream, "DO. NOT. HURT. JOSH. AGAIN." I raise a knee to thoroughly kick him in the balls. While he's on the ground, I kick him again for good measure, and then kick him in the chest.

I run to my phone and call the police. Within minutes, they show up, handcuff Chris, and drive away. While they're shoving him into the car, he screams "I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN, LAWRENCE." I yell after him, "GOOD. IT'S NOT LIKE I CARE."

As they drive away, I run in to assess the damage. Josh is barely concious.

"Josh?" He doesn't respond, but he grabs my hand. I hold his face. "Stay with me.." I tell him. "A..Always." He whispers. I give him a weak smile, followed by a light kiss on the cheek. Some paramedics walk in. "Ms. Lawrence? Is Mr. Hutcherson okay?" I don't say anything. One of the paramedics examines Josh, and comments, "Wow.. Chris beat him up pretty bad." Josh gives a weak smile. "You're lucky he's still somewhat concious. Is it okay if he comes with us? He won't need to stay overnight if nothing comes up." I nod. I find myself starting to get upset. Suddenly, I'm crying again. "J..Jen.." Josh mutters, "I.. I'm okay.. I..promise." I rest my head on his shoulder, and he puts a weak arm on my back.

"Alright, Josh. It's time for you to come with us. We're going to make you all better." The paramedic says. Josh laughs a soft laugh. "With all due respect...ma'am.. I just got beat..up.. I'm not 5." This makes me laugh a little. Even when Josh is barely awake, he always finds time to include some humor. They bring Josh into the ambulance. I ask the lady if I can come with them. She tells me I can, and she'll ride in the back with us to be sure Josh is okay on the way over.

As we take the speedy ride to the hospital, Josh falls asleep. Even after he does, I don't let go of his hand. I don't know why I don't let go. Maybe it's just feeling the warmness of his hand that constantly tells me he's going to be okay. The paramedic smiles at me. "You're truly lucky, Miss Lawrence. Not everyone would want to risk themselves fighting someone they barely know." I smile at her weakly. "Josh always thinks of other people before himself. That's one of the things I love about him." She smiles. I lean down and kiss his forehead and brush the hair that's fallen over his face out of the way.

After a while, she speaks. "I don't want to be that kind of annoying person, Miss Lawrence, but I'm truly a huge fan. I loved you two in the Hunger Games series, and I really can't wait for part two next year." I smile at her. "Thank you. Mockingjay Part Two should be good." I respond. "I read the books. It's truly a powerful story." She says. I nod. "I love the Hunger Games." I tell her with a slight laugh.

She's been truly helpful to me, so I decide to tell her a secret. "Can I tell you a secret...?" I wait for her to tell me a name. "Janet." She says, smiling. "Janet.." I repeat. "Can I tell you a secet, Janet?" I ask her. She nods. "But you have to promise you won't tell a single person! Not a soul." She smiles at me. "I promise." She says. I lean in close to her and whisper, "We're making another." Her eyes light up. "Another what? Another.." "Another Hunger Games." I whisper even quieter. Her mouth drops open. "Really?!" I smile at her reaction. "Well, it's not official yet, which is why you can't tell ANYONE, but we've laid the groundwork." She squeals, "That's amazing!" I grin. "Katniss, and Peeta, and Haymitch, and.." She squeals again. "Well, I'm glad you're excited." I tell her with a smile. "You have no idea!!" She says excitedly.

When we arrive at the hospital, they roll Josh out. Janet gives me her number. "You can call me or text me at any time for updates." I thank her. I squeeze onto Josh's hand one last time before they roll him out of my reach. I also exchange with her a few numbers: Josh's parents, most importantly. She gives me a look. "We're really close." I explain. She nudges me. "I'm just teasing. I know you two are like brother and sister." I smile. "Thank you, Miss Lawre.." I interrupt her. "Jen. You can call me Jen." She smiles. "Jen.. Thank you, Jen." She looks back at the doors to the hospital. "I need to go help them. Josh is going to be fine, I promise." I smile at her. "Thank you, Janet. It was nice meeting you." I smile at her and wave, already preparing to cover my face from the paparazzi that have already showed up at the hospital, and wishing Josh could be here to help block them off.
