"Hutcherson?" The nurse calls out to the cold dark waiting room. I find it ironic that she calls out our name, because we are the only ones waiting in this area of the hospital on a Saturday at 3:00. We stand and follow her into yet another cold and dark room. A monitor sits in the corner perched high on top of a table. A large chair that reminds me of the dentist chair sits in the middle of the room.

"You two must be Jennifer and Josh." The nurse says. "Doctor Finnigan will be in shortly to reveal the gender of your child. Please have a seat on the large brown chair, Jennifer. There's an extra seat for you here, Josh." She smiles at both Josh and I and leaves without another word. I sit down with a flop on the chair next to the screen, and Josh pulls up the plastic chair to sit beside me, squeezing my hand.

"That chair looks like one of those plastic chairs you find in an elementary school." I tease, pointing to the part of the seat still visible after he sits down on it. "Oh yeah." He laughs. An awkward silence soon fills the air. It is then when I notice how tightly Josh is squeezing onto my hand, both of our hands going pink with the force. "You're more nervous than I am, Joshy." I whisper. "Take it easy, baby." I lean over and kiss his forehead. "Sorry babe, I'm just thinking about our future. This is the future in the making right here." He explains. I smile at him, but I remain speechless. I don't really know how to respond to that.

"Jennifer? Josh?"

Another lady enters the room. Her hair is bright orange, and she is tall and thin. Her eyes are blue, and her nose is dotted with freckles.

"I'm Dr. Annie Finnigan. It's wonderful to meet you two." We smile at her and shake hands. "Are you ready to find out the gender of your baby?" She asks. As if on cue, Josh and I nod excitedly at the same time. "Alright. Jennifer, if you could just pull up your shirt a little bit so we can see the bump..." I nod, pulling up my orange and white T-shirt to reveal my growing stomach.

Dr. Finnigan grabs a tube from the drawer and squeezes out the cool gel onto my stomach. She puts on some gloves and spreads the gel around. It's possibly one of the strangest feelings I've had in a while. I look over at Josh and he grins at me. A small white plastic device is moved across my stomach as the computer collects the images of our child. I take a deep breath and hold it in, anticipating the results. I quickly glance over at Josh to see that he as well is completely breathless, his facial expression frozen in a look of joy.

"Hmm... This is interesting." The doctor mumbles to herself, removing her gloves and tossing them in the garbage bin. She reaches over with her other hand and uses the mouse on the computer to click the various images popping up on the screen. She studies each picture for a moment. "Hmm..." She murmurs again. Her voice of concentration is getting me nervous, so I glance back over at my husband. His look of joy has been replaced with a look of concern, and he seems to read my mind. "Is something wrong?" Josh asks. The doctor spins back around in her chair and looks at us, smiling at us with a reassuring expression. "No, I can assure you nothing is wrong. I didn't mean to make you nervous. It's just we don't usually just start to notice this at the five month mark. Normally it's much sooner." She explains. Josh tilts his head and looks at her with confusion. "Notice what?" He asks.

"You're sitting down for this news, right Josh?" The doctor asks, grinning. Josh's expression forms into a small smile, but with the confusion still remaining. "Yeah....?" Dr. Finnigan looks at the computer and pulls up a large image of where our baby is. She glances back at us and notices that Josh and I have started to hold hands again. She takes a deep breath and tells us what she has found.

"I am pleased to inform you both that you two will be having twins."

Wait.
