Josh's POV:
I wake up with Jen sleeping on my chest. I smile as I look down at her, laughing when I realize I don't normally look down. Yup, I'm shorter than her. Doesn't bother me too much, except when she kisses me, then it's embarassing.
I hear my phone vibrating like crazy. I grab it off the charger on my nightstand. It's a call from Francis. I put Jen's head on a pillow before hopping out of my bed to take the call.
"Hello?"
"Hey Josh! Sorry to be calling you this early, but I had an idea." Francis says.
I take my phone off my ear for a split second to see the time. Meh. 8:30's not that bad.
"Hey, no worries. I was just getting up. What's your idea?" I ask him
"So.. You know how Jen had the Hanging Tree for Part one as Katniss's solo, if you will?" "Mhm." "Well, I was thinking, what if we have you do a cover of Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud, and we use it in a scene of Peeta and Katniss finishing their slow dance because they never finished it on the Victory Tour?" My mouth drops open.
"That sounds great, Francis! There's just one problem." Francis asks, "What?"
I whisper, "I. Can't. Sing."
Francis laughs. "Why are you laughing, Francis?"
"Josh, that is literally the exact same thing Jennifer said to me when I asked her about the Hanging Tree. Guess what? That song is still #1 on the charts."
"There's a difference." I counter. "How?" He asks. "The Hanging Tree is an original song written by Suzanne Collins for the Hunger Games. Thinking out Loud was not written for the Hunger Games, and we don't want to piss off Ed Sheeran." Francis laughs. "I can talk to Ed." I raise an eyebrow, even when he can't see it. "You know Ed?" "I have my ways, Hutcherson." I laugh. "You have friends who are friends of friends of Ed Sheeran?" He laughs. "Something like that." He pauses.
"So that's a yes?" He asks. I sigh. "Yeah, it is. I suck at singing though, Francis. You've been warned." He scoffs. "Josh.. You'll do fine!" "Yeah, okay. See you later, Francis." I tell him.I hear a cheerful "See ya" before the line goes dead.
I sit down on my bed. Jen comes up from behind me, still perched on the bed, and places her arms on my shoulders. "What's up, Joshy?" She says with a grin. "What's this singing I'm hearing about?"
I tell her what Francis wanted me to do. She cheers. "Yes!" I turn my head behind me to give her look. "I won't be the only one embarassed by Francis Lawrence!" I burst out laughing. She plops herself back down on the bed. "What are you saying, Lawrence?" I smirk at her. "Nothing, Hutcherson." She's grinning at me. "You're gonna get payback for that comment!" She smirks. "How?" My hands go to her neck and start tickling her. She bursts out laughing. I'm grinning as I tickle her everywhere. "Payback for the red carpet, too!" I remind her of when she tickled me in the Mockingjay part one red carpet. "J..Josh! My god, stop!" She's laughing like crazy now. "Stop, Joshy! I..I need to breathe!" I grin at her and finally stop.
Suddenly, our eyes lock in eachother's gaze. I swear, this always happens! We smile at eachother, and our minds are racing through the memories of eachother. Well, at least my mind was racing. Finally, I can't take the silent staring. I quickly flop myself on the bed, pull myself up to Jen, and kiss her. She seems to have been expecting it, because when we pull away, she says "Thank you! I was waiting for that!" I laugh. She grabs my face and kisses me again. We don't stop for... jeez, I wanna say like 15 seconds. Were it not for my phone buzzing, we would've kept going.
I groan. "Who is texting me at this important moment?" Jen laughs. It's a text from Sam.
Sam: "Remember our deal?"
It takes me a second to figure out why he put it in quotes, but then I remember Catching Fire and chuckle under my breath. I text back.
Josh: "Peeta lives, not me."?
Sam: lol you know what im talking about joshua
I smile at my phone before putting it on my nightstand. "Who was that?" Jen asks. "It was nothing." I tell her. I sit back down on the bed, where she's STILL just laying there, her arms and legs spread out like a starfish. I go on the other side of the bed and copy her starfish-ness, grabbing onto her hand.
"Jen, can I ask you something?" She looks over at me. "Sure, spongey. Anything." I laugh when I remember the interview. "You haven't called me that since Catching Fire, I don't think." She laughs.
I gulp. Here goes nothing...
"Jen..uhh... I was..umm.." I stop. "Joshy, just tell me! You know you can tell me anything." She says.
"I was..umm.. wonderingifyouwantedtobemygirlfriend?" I say super fast. She laughs. "Can you say it normal speed, spongey?" I laugh, holding onto her hand tighter. More calmly this time, I repeat...
"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
I can see her huge smile from the corner of my eye. Suddenly, she gets out of her starfish mode and rolls herself ontop of me super fast. "Yes!" She says with a laugh. Her lips are suddenly on mine. While we kiss, I sigh of relief, but it sounds weird since I'm kissing her. It's official then.
I can now be called Jennifer Lawrence's boyfriend.
Step one.
