Chapter 22: Toys and Intoxication

Error's POV a few weeks later

"Hey, Error? I think I should upgrade your necklace. Could I borrow it?"Buffer asks

"SuRe, bUfFeR."I say, handing him it

"I will get it back to you in a few days."He says

He quickly disappears through a portal and I go to OuterTale to stargaze. I walk along my usual path, stopping in my tracks when finding a strange object on the ground. I pick it up and brush some dirt off of it, seeing that it is Dream's new crown. What is it doing out here? Dream never leaves his crown around and I doubt that he would lose the crown that Nighty remade for him.

This does raise concern..I should go to see if he is with Nightmare.

I raise my hand to open a portal and lift my phone with a call connecting to Nighty already. Then I feel something stab into the back of my skull, making my body go limp and drop both the crown and phone. I feel my skull get yanked, dragging me off of my feet as Nighty picks up.

"Glitchy? Is something wrong?"I hear him say, but couldn't respond

I see OuterTale fade away and I get lifted into a black void space. I see Dream hanging beside me with a red string hooked into his head. That must be what is stuck in my head. His eyes are a pale yellow and he just stares ahead, his hands at his sides as he dangles there.

"The toys are forgetting their places. These wires should help them remember and stay there. Unless updates need to be done.....Hmmm...Feel free to mess with them in the meantime. As long as those strings are in their skulls, they will obey anything."A familiar voice says

Fate.

Uggghhhh....Should have made Dream some repellent gear...

I watch as two giant hands change his clothes, twisting his arm or head as giggles ring out. I see tears roll down his face, though he couldn't do anything. Then the hands fade away. I could sense a different presence arrive, like a different soul. Then I see Dream's string get sliced and a blur catch him before he fell. Dream leaves my sight but I can hear him coughing as he springs back to life.

"Cross...? What...? Uggh, my body aches..."He says

How did Cross get here?

"Found your crown in OuterTale and Nightmare was wandering around with Error's phone, searching for you both. I used a tool Buffer made to track you down. It can lock in on auras and it's obvious which one I locked in on. Are you alright? How about I take you home?"Cross says

"Yes...But Error..."He says

"Huh? Oh...I got it."Cross says

I feel something rip above me and I fall down loosely, feeling an arm grab me. I see Cross land and pick Dream up again. Then he teleports away, appearing in the castle. He lays me on my bed in my room, then carries Dream away to get healed.

"Cross...? What are you...?"Dream wonders

"I'm going to get you healed and try to get that string out of your head. Wait, should I have him sit up? I'll tell your brother so he doesn't have to worry."Cross says

"Sure..."Dream says

I feel my body get lifted up as the string gets tied to the headboard of the bed. I see Cross walk back out. It is completely quiet and I couldn't really go anywhere, stuck to the bed. And I can't rip the string from my head. It won't break.

"Gllliitttccchhyyyy! Where are yooouuu?"I hear Nighty say, his words slurring

Buffer....What did you do to him?

"Note to self, Nightmare is a lightweight."I hear Buffer say

I see Nightmare stumble into the room, knocking into the bed with a blurry eye. His tentacles hang low, wiggling.

"Heeey, Gliittccccchhy! Ccccchhhh, ccccchhh is a funny sound!"He says, shutting the door with a tentacle

He climbs on top of me.

"Where weeere yooou? Yeeer s'posed toooo cuddle me...I gooot w-worried 'bout you..."He says, his tentacles taking my clothes off.

I couldn't move or respond, watching as he tosses my clothes aside. He frowns.

"Yooou wooon't anssssuh huuuh? I got an i-i-ideeeeaaa..."He says

I feel his hands slip down my bones and feel my face burn. He grins, hiding his face in my rib cage and I feel him kiss around.

"I'll make yoouuu taalk...."He says softly

I feel something tug at the string connected to my head and I feel my body start shaking. I turn my head, seeing a tentacle gripping the string firmly and another two petting my head. One reaches away, gripping the bookshelves and trying to pull Nighty off of me. Seems that his tentacles are sober enough to have some common sense with the situation. Still, he continues to get affectionate and humming softly, his hands crawling lower down my body.

"ReD! N-NigHty! R-ReD!"I snap, trying to push him off

He pauses, his entire body stopping when he hears me. He glances at me and frowns.

"Sooorrry looovee...."He says, gently kissing my cheek

He crawls off of me and throws some blankets over me. Then he strums the string tying me to the bed.

"What's this?"He asks

"ThE rEaSoN I cOuLdn'T spEaK oR mOvE. HoLd oNtO iT anD I wiLl eXpLaIn wHeN yOu sObEr uP."I say

He nods, laying beside me to doze off. Then Buffer pops his head in.

"WhAt WaS tHaT, bUfFeR? WhY diD yOu iNtOxiCAtE hIm?"I ask

"I was curious to see how he'd handle it. And he was stressed about you so I thought it'd calm him. I didn't realize there was an actual issue or disappearance. I thought he was just being clingy. I'll cut that and work on your necklace."He says, leaning behind my head

I feel some weight get lifted and he holds the detached string from my head with a grin. He exits quickly after freeing me and shuts the door. I shake my head and smile, glancing at Nighty and gently petting his head. He smiles, snuggling into my touch. He opens his eye slightly.

"Loooove yooouuu...mmmnnn.."He says sleepily

I smile at him, kissing his head before dozing off.

Only to wake up to Nighty's shouting.

"MmMnnNnn...FiVe mOrE mInUTeS nIgHty...SssSs$shHhHhh..."I say softly

"What the hell happened, Glitchy?"He asks, sounding concerned

"BuFfEr lEaRnEd tHaT yOu'rE a liGhTwe1gHt aNd iT wEnT fRom tHerE wiTh yOu bEiNg drUnk."I say sleepily

"Oh stars! I am so sorry, Glitchy! I shouldn't have, but I-"He begins but I cover his mouth

"SssSssHh, yOu iDiOt...It's fInE...YoU stiLl liStEnEd To mE. It iS nOt As bAd aS yOu tHiNk...JuSt ReSt wItH mE aNd I wiLl exPlAiN. OkAy?"I tell him

I feel him nod and snuggle into my arms, hugging me closer. I grin, smiling wider as I doze back off.

"LoVe yOu..."
