Killer's POV the next morning
"He is already showing signs of a good recovery and I see him healing and making a full recovery out of her within a few weeks...if he listens that is."I hear a doctor say
"What do you mean?"I hear Outer ask
I smile widely hearing his voice, glancing over to the door.
"He scared the night shift staff and somehow managed to unlock the wheels on his bed to ride into the elevator and break into the kitchen on the ground floor. All caught on camera and luckily one of his friends found him, bringing him back to the room."I hear the doctor say
"Soo...Did you take me just for a private update or can I see him?"Outer asks
I don't hear an answer from the doctor but assume that he says yes because then I see Outer step into the room. I do my best to sit up, only to fall back against the bed. I reach for the remote, making the bed recline so I can sit up.
"Outer!"I exclaim
He looks at me with a mix of relief and anger in his eyes.
"Okay...I promise I can explain! I-Mmph!"I begin
He cuts me off with a kiss, his hand squeezing my free one.
"Never....Never scare me like that again."He tells me
I smirk, pulling him into the bed with me. He hugs me close, burying his head under my chin. I rub his back gently to calm him, though I dunno how calm I am after that kiss. I feel my face burn and my soul beat faster, indicated by the beeping monitors. Then I hear more footsteps, seeing Farmer enter with Cross and Dream. Horror is still asleep in the chair.
"Good to see that you're okay."Farmer says
"Uh huh, thanks. You still have a job to do."I say, nodding my head to Horror.
"It's a relief to know that you're okay."Dream says
"But what the hell were you thinking?"Cross asks
I chuckle until it starts to hurt and Outer squeezes me tighter.
"I was thinking of helping you guys. Seems simple enough to see."I say
"But going up against Horror? Are you nuts?"Cross asks
"Well, it's better than letting him be used as a lab rat unaware of his actions or choices made for him. What was I supposed to do? Let him kill his boyfriend that he was too blind and hacked to recognize? Or let his boyfriend get hacked next? I'm crazy, not crazy stupid."I say
"There's a difference?"Horror says with a yawn.
"HEY!"I snap
"Only kidding."He chuckles.
Then I see him give Farmer a longing stare, which he turns his back to.
"How would I have gotten hacked?"He asks
"The virus was somehow put into the edge of his axe. One hit from it and you would have more than a scar. And trust me, it's not a pleasing feeling to experience. So next time you see me jumping in to help, maybe do something and save the questions or assumptions for later."I say
Horror hums, nodding.
"We're lucky that he was there when he didn't have to be....He chose to come..."He says
"Now what are you talking about, Horror?"Farmer asks
"Killer encountered the one responsible and got an offer to be sent anywhere he wanted to anyone he wanted. He was the only one who broke himself free so he earned it in the eyes of the culprit. He could've chosen anyone, anywhere else but he chose to come to help me. And through that, help you..I'm sorry, Farm."He says, bowing his head
Farmer sighs, sitting in Horror's lap and lifting his head up gently to wipe his tears. Then he kisses Horror, seeming to surprise and calm my brother at the same time.
"So? Where's the troublemaker?"Dust chuckles as he enters with Blue.
Blue lays four blankets stitched in a dark blue over me and lays another behind me on the pillows.
"Those are from Error. He and Nightmare are still stuck downstairs getting a background check done so the staff knows that they aren't a threat."He says
Cross curiously takes a bite from one of the plates, then glances to me.
"Killer, did you try cooking again?"He asks
"Yes. It was very hard for obvious reasons."I say
"And this is why Horror rules the kitchen at home."He says
"Yep, that is his territory."Dust says, sitting beside Horror.
He glances at Horror, then leans on his shoulder.
"Everything is ok, Big Guy. I for one am glad that you are alright."He says
"...Are you?"Horror asks
He nods.
"Now that I know my family isn't gone, I'm great."He says
"We saw him and Error paying respects until Nightmare broke them free...They were in a dark place.."Outer says
Horror wraps an arm around Dust. hugging him while he holds Farm close. Seems like Farmer is finally warming up to him again, giving him needed comfort and affection.
"So...Are you and Dream ok, Cross?"Horror asks
Heads turn to Cross and Dream.
"Well, I found them hugging each other and apparently Nightmare saw Dream kiss him so I'm not sure what the virus expected to cause them harm."Blue says
"No surprise there."Horror says as everyone else nods.
Their faces burn up quickly. Blue hugs Dust, whispering something to him that makes him smile.
"Alr1gHt, h0w bAd iS iT?"Dad says as he enters
He glances at me and sighs.
"He iS aLiV3, n1gHt. AnD aWaK3. GeT iN hErE."I say
Then Mom enters, looking concerned and he smiles, sighing with relief.
"What can you explain and how can we help you?"He asks
"Well, the person responsible is named Probe and he likes to experiment for the heck of it through hacking or other methods. Are you alright, Dad?"I reply, knowing that Error has very sensitive code.
"It t0oK a fEw cRaShEs aNd rEbOoTs, bUt I aM oKaY nOw. ThE viRuS iS clEaR fRoM mY sYsTeM."He says
I smile, nodding.
"Interesting..."Nightmare says, then exits the room.
"NiGhTy, d0n'T bOtHeR tHe d0cToRs!"Error says
"I'm getting answers and you can't stop me!"He shouts back
I chuckle, then feel Outer shift. I glance at him, seeing him lift his head to look at me. I smile at him, kissing him on the head gently.
I may not regret what I did for Horror, but I do regret scaring them..I never want to see Outer upset like this again...
"You're such a fool, Killer. A crazy fool."Outer says
"I know, but I love you."I tell him
"I love you too."He says, snuggling closer to me.
I smile happily. This is the path to recovery. But I'll have fun messing with Probe the next time he tries to use my family.
Meanwhile
"Interesting...Clever rats...They're the first in a long time to escape my control..And to completely erase it from their systems...Hmm...."
"Mind if I give a suggestion? It will be quite the interesting test and get plenty of entertaining reactions, I assure you."
"....I'm listening..."
