~~Veela~~

It had taken a lot of wiggenwelds and a lot of play acting to finally stumble up the steps of her home, panting as she leaned against the railing in effort. Why were there so many damn steps?!

She looked back and huffed when she realized there were only seven of them. Was she really that weak from that damn potion?! Father would help her, though. He would make sure she recovered.

She pushed the heavy wooden door open with a grunt and fell to her knees inside, panting for breath as she stayed in that position to try and catch her breath. It felt like her insides were burning, the blood in her veins poison to everything in her body.

"Dad-" she cried out into the house, panting harshly as she fell to her side in the entryway.

She looked up in alarm when the door slammed shut behind her, and saw through blurry vision as a figure started walking toward her down the hallway.

"Veela." Her father's gruff voice said, but as he came closer she saw a deep frown on his face. He didn't look happy to see her.

"Please, I drank the blood bane potion-" Veela coughed, twisting in pain on the ground again.

"You failed in your mission even with the blood bane?" He scoffed in frustration. "Even a last resort couldn't help you."

She looked up again in alarm that he already knew about her mission, her eyes wide when she saw the anger and frustration in his gaze. "Please, it's not what-"

"Enough with your excuses." He snapped angrily at her, his eyes turning harsh. "It's always excuses with you! Or do you have another excuse for why you lost your license?"

"Please, daddy I'll explain-"

"No." He growled angrily. "No explanations. No whining. All you needed to do was carry out your duties as an auror. Duties I trained you on your entire life to fulfill! How can you be this incompetent? This useless? You're just like your mother." He sneered angrily.

"Useless?" Veela breathed out in shock. He thought she was useless? After everything she'd done for him?

"First you wouldn't kill the obscurial," he started.

"She was just a kid!" Veela yelled defensively.

"Then you refused to hunt down a pack of rogue centaurs,"

"We were trying to negotiate with them!" Veela yelled angrily, hating that her empathy was being used against her.

"And now you can't even kill a werewolf." He scoffed. "You're an utter failure."

"Failure?" Veela said in outrage. "I've done everything you've ever wanted me to do! I listened to everything you've said my entire life!"

"AND YET YOU STILL FAILED!" Her father raged at her, making her shrink back in fear.

She was going to say it was because she'd been taken by surprise and petrified, but something in her told her to stay quiet, the words caught in her throat.

"Everything has a purpose." He growled, looming over her. "If something doesn't have a purpose, it doesn't belong and should be cast out."

She felt a rush of cold fill her blood, her eyes going wide. "No- please, I need help!"

"You're a burden, Veela. Just like your mother. Nothing but a useless stain." He growled, and grabbed the back of her dress. "A stain that can luckily be corrected." He started dragging her back toward the door, tugging her against the ground before he opened the door.
