~~Marie~~
She was still in shock from Damien's words, that he hadn't shunned her, and hadn't thought differently of her. In fact he had hugged her, and wanted to comfort her! It was... so much, and her heart felt like it was beating out of her chest as they raced back down to the makeshift quidditch field below them.
"We'll say this first match is just for fun, but how about we make the future matches a bit more risky?" Damien shouted against the wind as he flew beside her.
"Oh? What did you have in mind?" She grinned at the challenge, rather liking how competitive he could be. He was bold and fierce in the field, and she wondered if he would normally be like that if not for his uneasiness with his condition. She wanted to see more of that version of him.
"I don't know!" He laughed. "But whoever wins gets to decide on a prize of some sort. I guess we'll decide it at the time!" He shouted with a wry grin over to her.
Marie laughed as he didn't even know what the prizes should be, but smiled over to him. "Alright, deal! This will just be the practice round. We'll see what each other can do."
Damien gave her a fierce, confident grin. "You sure you're up for that, petit renard?"
What did that mean? It certainly sounded good, though. "I'm up for anything you can throw at me, dog-boy." She grinned teasingly over to him.
He laughed at the nickname and let out a loud growling sound before covering his mouth in embarrassment.
"What was that?" She laughed as he was blushing.
"Wolf." Damien gave her a sheepish smile.
"Wait, he came out?" She slowed down above the field as they finally arrived.
"The closer we get to the moon, the more control he gets, and the easier it is for him to come out." Damien explained.
"Did he not like the nickname?" Marie asked in concern. It had been a growl. Didn't that mean something bad?
"Uh... no." Damien said, looking a bit embarrassed again as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"No he didn't like it?" Marie laughed because he was being so vague.
"He... liked it" Damien gave her a small smile. He put a hand to his head as if trying to deal with something. "A lot." He muttered
"Oh?" Marie felt her heart pounding in her chest that the Wolf was talking, too. "Is he part of you, then? If he likes something... it sounds like he can speak for himself."
"I just tried that last night. It's a bit surreal still. But yes... it seems he can." Damien shrugged.
"I always did!" Another tone came from Damien, the accent and pitch different before he put a hand over his mouth again in frustration.
Marie giggled in amusement, leaning down on her broom idly as she looked over to them with a smile. "So he's inside you but speaks for himself. Very interesting." But that meant the wolf had heard everything about her too, and he didn't seem at all upset about it. Were they two halves of the same whole? Or separate altogether?
"How interesting that his accent is different from yours." Marie grinned. "He sounds English." Damien had a thick French accent... but at least it made it easier to differentiate them. Wolf's voice was also huskier, as if he was constantly laced with a growl.
"It is odd... I'm not sure why that is." Damien said thoughtfully with a small frown.
Marie shifted her stance so she moved closer to Damien, smiling softly to him as she leaned her arms on her broom's handle casually. "I wouldn't worry about it too much, Damien. What would you do about it even if you could? I know it's probably difficult, but it's better to get along with him than fight against him."
