the sun had set behind the ocean and the beach wasn't mostly scarce, except for two flashlights and a fits of laugher.
olivia hadn't expect to enjoy herself on this 'date' as much as she was. aiden had picked a secluded spot in the sad to lay out their blanket. he had brought all the essentials from fruit snacks to mini canvases for them to paint on.
"so that's why you're banned from karting?" olivia nodded as she giggled. she had recounted the story about how she got banned from her local karting circuit for intentionally crashing into someone.
"so, art, surfing, karting. is anything else i need to know about you?"
"i like to sing?" aiden's eyes widened and his lips curved up. olivia immediately regretted mentioning it, lowering her head and she but her lip.
"we have to do karaoke together, now." aiden chuckled.
"oh no."
"come on, i'll sing with you." olivia gave him an embarrassed smiled.
"promise?"
"promise. now i know where to take you next time."
olivia raised a brow, "next time?"
"next time. only if you want one, though." the brunette felt her heart melt as she nodded.
"i guess we can have a next time." aiden let out a breathy laugh.
the pair fell into silence, but it was a comfortable one, as olivia added the final touches to her painting under the flash of her phone.
"done!" she turned the canvas to the blonde who was visibly impressed.
"not bad. mine's definitely better, though." he refereed to his sunflower painting.
olivia nodded and pursed her lips, "yes, definitely. i don't know why you told me you couldn't do art? you're a natural."
they laughed. olivia checked her phone, it was getting late. "it's getting late."
aiden nodded, "yeah, i should get you back home."
they gathered all their things, packing it into aiden' scar before setting off. aiden allowed olivia to control the aux, the brunette blasting nirvana on the drive back.
"i had a great time today." the blonde spoke once he had pulled up outside her apartment complex.
"i had a great time too."
"my friends and i are only on a bit of a road trip for a few weeks. so can we have the karaoke date after i get back?"
olivia's stomach did a flip at the mention of the word 'date', she nodded before speaking, "we'll have go rain back since i'll be in bahrain next month."
"bahrain?"
"for the formula 1 grand prix."
"you're a fan?"
"kind of have to be when your best friend is on the grid." she chuckled to herself, "but, yes, big fan!"
"who's your best friend?"
"oscar piastri."
"tell me everything!" delara burst into olivia's room seconds after she, herself, at entered. olivia smiled as her friend climbed onto the bed.
"it waa actually really great." delara squealed. "we went to the beach and he had brough everything that we needed. he bought fresh strawberries and cupcakes and mini canvases for us to paint on. we just sat together and talked and painted, it was perfect."
"is there gonna be a second date?"
"maybe..." she gave her friend a sly smile, "but not for a while. he's going on a roadtrip with his friend for a few weeks and i'll be in bahrain for the race."
"doesn't matter because at least there's a second date!"
"you're way more excited about all of this than me." olivia pointed out.
"how can i not be, liv? you haven't had a relationship in over a year. this guy is cute, sweet and seems really into you."
the girls talked a little while longer before delara went back to her room. olivia fell back in her bed, picking up her phone.
