it had been a week since aiden had broken up with her and over a week since she had returned home to australia.

olivia had spent most of her days back at her childhood home since the apartment felt too quiet for her. delara was out most hours of day, busy with launching her own clothing line. caleb spent most of his time at the beach or in his college classes.

olivia craved the beach but decided it was better to stay away since aiden now worked there, she didn't want to have to deal with awkward encounters with her ex.

however, olivia kept herself busy. she spent her time painting and writing. the brunette was honestly shocked by the surge of inspiration she had gained after her break up with aiden. words were flowing out of her like a fountain.

but the songs she wrote weren't sad ones. they weren't break up songs. instead, olivia wrote about love. she wrote songs about him.

"hey honey, what're you up to?" gabriel poked his head through the door of olivia's childhood bedroom. the brunette sat cross legged on his bed, humming a melody that had been stuck in her head all day.

"just writing."

"you've been doing that a lot lately." olivia smiled.

"yeah, it's weird. it doesn't even feel like i have to try, the words are just flowing out."

"any particularly reason for outpour of inspiration?" gabriel lifted an eyebrow as she saw his daughter's face contort like she was thinking about whether she wanted to reveal the reason to her father or not.

"well there's a guy—"

"oscar." olivia's eyes widened. "am i wrong?" her father smirked knowing he wasn't.

"no, but how do you know?"

gabriel chuckled as he fully entered the room, "it's not like i haven't been saying it for years that there is something between you two," olivia rolled her eyes playfully remembering all of the times her father had joked about her and oscar being more the. friends, "because i can see it. the way you are with him. you may have only realised it now but, honey, you've liked him for a long time."

olivia sighed, "i think i really like him, papa."

"i know you do."

"and i think he might like me too..."

"oh he definitely does."

"but that's scary." gabriel frowned.

"why is that scary?"

"he's my best friend, pa. he's my favourite person in the whole world." the older alvarez faked offence, "apart from you."

"honey, what's so scary about that? in my opinion the best relationships are with someone who is your best friend."

"i just— what if it doesn't work out? what if we start dating and it changes everything? what if we end up like me and aiden? he's got a bright future ahead of him, he's travelling around the world. what if he finds someone else? what if i end up holding him back."

"liv, have you thought about what if it's meant to be?" olivia hadn't.

"i just don't want to ruin what we have right now." gabriel sighed, pulling his daughter into a hug. "i can't lose him."

"i know you can't and i also know that you never will." gabriel smiled softly, "i've known oscar almost as long as you have and i can tell you with full certainty that you could never lose that boy. he loves you, he'd never let go of you."

olivia nodded as her father placed a small kiss on her forehead. "all i want is to see my incredible daughter happy. think about it. take the leap and i promise either way you'll be happy you did."

"hey, on the bright side this means there is one less home race for ferrari to fuck up their strategy." olivia joked. oscar shook his head and laughed.

"very true. sometimes i wonder where ferrari hired their strategy team."

"clown college." oscar let out a hearty laugh making the brunette giggle over the phone.

"anyway, i didn't call you to shit on ferrari." oscar spoke, "i wanted to ask how you are doing."

"i'm fine, os." olivia rolled her eyes playfully. the aussie had been asking her everyday how she was feeling since her break up. "seriously, i'm not just saying it. i truly am fine."

"good because i also wanted to ask if you still want to come to monaco." olivia hadn't thought about still attending the illustrious monaco grand prix. she had initially said no because she wanted to stay home and spend time with her friends and boyfriend. however, she didn't have a boyfriend anymore and her friends were busy with their own lives.

"yeah, i want to come. i love watching you race and who would ever turn down a free trip to monaco." oscar chuckled.

"who said the trip was free?"

"i did." the brunette flashed her best friend a cheesy smile.

"who said i'd listen to you?"

"you will because you love me." olivia giggled.

oscar chuckled and nodded, "that is true. i do love you."

olivia felt her heart leap inside her chest upon hearing oscar's words. her smile grew wider then she thought possible and her cheeks tinted a slight pink.

"oscar..." olivia's voice came out barely louder then a whisper. "you know you're like my favourite person in the world right?"

the aussie smiled softly, "that's such a coincidence because you're also my favourite person."

olivia giggled, her heart swelling at the sound of oscar laughing back through the screen. the way his perfectly swooping waves bounced on his forehead and his teeth peeled through his lips.

"but seriously, os, i feel so lucky to have you in my life. i never want to lose you."

"is everything okay, livvy? you know i'm always here for you."

"everything is fine. i just wanted to make sure you know how important you are to me."

short chapter and kinda filler (?) there's fluff tho hehe 🤭 i promise you guys the GOOD STUFF IS COMING!! i do wanna say thank you for being so patient. this story and plot is really special to me and i know you all want oscar and olivia together already (believe me so do i) but i really want to do them justice so thank you for being a part of this journey with me so far and reading every chapter and commenting and voting. it seriously means the world 💗💗

anywayyyyy my day has been so exhausting 😭 but i still wanted to post for you guys bc it is update tuesday!! i hope you guys still enjoy this chapter even though i honestly think this isn't my best work BUT STILL ITS GOOD I THINK!!
