29th april 2023, afternoon
baku, azerbaijan

it was saturday which normally meant qualifying day, but not this weekend. baku was one of the six scheduled sprint races weekends on the 2023 calendar, so saturday was purely sprint day.

"good morning." olivia greeted a few papaya employees as she made her way to oscar's driver room. she held in her arms a snack for him.

the brunette knocked on the door, oscar's head quickly popping out with a smile like he had been waiting for her. "did you get it?"

olivia smiled and nodded, oscar opened the door letting his best friend slip into the tiny room. "one chocolate moose."

"you're an angel, liv." oscar's eyes were trained on the small jar as she handed it to him.

"are you sure you can have that?" olivia giggled seeing her best friend do a little dance after his first bite.

"no," olivia's lips parted, "we'll just have to keep this our little secret." the aussie winked and smirked making the brunette roll her eyes playfully.

olivia plopped down onto the small couch in the room, oscar hiked up his race suit around his waist before situating next to her.

olivia's phone buzzed in her hand, her eyes flicked over the notification before she shut it and put it into her purse.

"is that aiden?" oscar asked not lifting his eyes from his chocolate moose. olivia shook her head and sighed.

"no..." the brunette bit down on her bottom lip before continuing, "um.. i actually have something to tell you."

oscar met her gaze, she looked visibly nervous making oscar all the more curious. "what's up?"

olivia opened his mouth but there was a knock on the door before she could say anything. their heads snapped to the door then back at each other. olivia held out her hand, oscar placing the chocolate moose in it before getting up to check who was outside.

oscar nodded and thanked the person turning back to the brunette, "i have to go for my massage."

the argentinian nodded, "yeah, you go." she got up grabbing her purse. "i'll see you after quali?"

"i'll have someone come get you and we can go have lunch." the brunette smiled, slipping past the mclaren driver to leave but she was pulled back. "and then we can talk about what's troubling you."

"nothing's troubling me, oscar."

oscar tilted his head, "don't lie to me. i know you better then that."

he pulled her in with the grip on her arm, wrapping his arms around her in a bear hug. olivia snuggled her face into his chest taking a deep breath.

"good luck, piastri."

the sprint shootout was still happening, but oscar had just missed out on q3 qualifying in p11. the aussie jumped out of his car, pulling off his gear as he talked to his engineers and mechanics.

charlotte found him soon after, dragging him off to the media pen for interviews. "alright, this should be the last one."

"thank god," oscar remarked making the pr manager chuckle, "also char, could you ask someone to find liv and bring her to hospitality for lunch."

"i see you two made up." she commented. oscar blushed slightly, nodding.

"yeah, we talked it out. we're okay now."
