8th july 2023, morning
london, englandolivia was already asleep when oscar arrived back at their room the previous night. oscar pressed a kiss against her temple, noticing the dried tears on her cheeks. he was concerned but decided to let the girl sleep.
the morning of race day, olivia stirred in bed her arms reaching out to her side but the bed was hollow. she blinked looking around for oscar. "right here." his deep chuckle lifted her mood immediately.
the brunette pushed herself up onto her arms giving a dazed smile in his direction. oscar's smile faltered as he approached her. he sat beside her, his hand cupped her cheek and his thumb rubbed over the tear stains.
"why were you crying last night, baby?" he whispered, frowning, "you were asleep when i got back so i didn't wake you."
olivia didn't meet his eyes, she knew she had to tell him what had happened the night before but it still upset her.
"i talked to my mom." she stated, "she caught me waiting for the elevator when i got back last night. i agreed to listen to her since she said she needed to speak to me..."
"via, why didn't you tell me this last night?" oscar asked. he wasn't mad, just sad he wasn't there for her.
"there was nothing you could have done, you were at work."
oscar sighed, she was correct, "alright, what did she say?"
"she said she wanted to meet me before she goes to rehab. she wanted me to know she was going to really try this time to get sober because she wants to be part of my life, which is total bullshit. she's been to rehab three times before and she's never stayed sober after." olivia was now getting upset, thinking back to the situation.
"i just yelled at her. told her she had many chances before to get sober and be part of my life but she never tried, now all of a sudden she remembers she has a daughter." oscar placed his hand on olivia's and squeezed it, temporarily taking her attention away from her growing anger.
olivia sighed, "then i left and came up here."
oscar pulled her into a hug. olivia rested her cheek on his shoulder, the gesture calming her nerves. olivia smiled, feeling grateful for having the australian boy in her life.
after a few moments in that position, olivia pulled away insisting she was okay and that she needed to get ready for the day. oscar placed a few kisses on her face before letting her go.
olivia rushed into the bathroom, her race day outfit already waiting for her where she had left it the previous day. she quickly got dressed and applied her makeup.
olivia was ready just in time for oscar's trainer to call them downstairs. the pair arrived at the paddock together greeting the fans as they made their way to the mclaren motorhome.
oscar was quick to change into his team gear and rush off to attend to his pre race duties before the driver parade. olivia found raya and lando, she began to approach them only to feel the tension between the pair before the british driver also had to leave.
"so... how are you?" liv tried to cut through some of the tension. raya hadn't looked at the girl, her arms crossed over her chest.
"fine." she clearly wasn't fine.
"well are you excited for the race? our boys have a real chance today!" raya didn't reply, only giving a stern nod.
"i'm going to get some water." she excused herself and strutted off. olivia watched dumbfounded, but brushed it off.
