20th march 2023, afternoon
melbourne, australia

it had been a week since olivia had returned home, she had gotten the life guarding job she had applied for at brighton beach. most of her days had been spent on the beach when she wasn't out with her friends or at home painting.

the brunette had made it a habit to call her best friend whenever he was free. however, oscar piastri wasn't the only boy olivia alvarez was on the phone with.

aiden walker was the other boy she spent hours talking too, sometimes late into the night when her roommates were fast asleep. olivia hadn't realised she had been counting the days till the blonde was to return to melbourne from his australian roadtrip.

it was finally the day, aiden had promised the alvarez girl that she would be the first person he would see when he got back.

olivia rummaged through her clothes to find something to wear. the blonde was on his way to pick her up for their second date and the brunette was visibly excited.

"you look cute." delara commented as she and caleb plopped down onto their friend's bed. olivia was adding finishing touches to her makeup.

"aiden is picking me up in... 5 minutes."

"ohhh," caleb wiggled his eye brows, "so what happened to 'it's not a date'?"

olivia rolled her eyes, "well... it is now."

the brunette smiled at her phone when aiden's text came through, he was downstairs. she waved bye to her friends before leaving.

"hi!" she chirped. aiden was leaning against his car when olivia approached him, his head lifting up from his phone and a goofy grin emerging on his lips. he wore a white button up and jeans, olivia couldn't lie he looked good.

"hello." he opened his arms for a hug which olivia immediately reciprocated. "ready to go?"

aiden opened the passenger door for the brunette, once he was seated in the driver side he turned to her. "where are we going?"

"a little restaurant. i found it my first week here and i just have to take you."

the car ride was comfortable, olivia asked the blonde about his trip listening to him rave about everything him and his friends had seen and done. the soft sound of taylor swift on the radio playing in the background.

the restaurant he had brought her too was small and intimate. it wasn't too fancy but olivia didn't mind, she preferred the casual vibe. aiden got them a table of two and the pair ordered their food and drinks.

"so how was bahrain?" aiden asked as the waiter walked away, "did you friend win?"

olivia frowned, "no, oscar didn't win."

"bummer. have you been a formula 1 fan long?"

"since i was born. my dad is a huge fan and we would watch all the races together. he even took me to the australian grand prix a few times."

"isn't that coming up? i don't know much about formula 1 but i've seen some stuff around the city for it."

olivia nodded, "yeah, at the end of this month. my friends and i are going, thanks to oscar we have paddock passes!"

"what's a paddock pass?" olivia giggled at his cluelessness.

"special badges that let us be in the f1 paddock where the garages are."

"that sounds amazing."

"it really is... do you want to come?" olivia hadn't processed the words before they left her lips.
