sakhir, bahrain

olivia giggled at the messages from aiden, she had just landed and connected to wifi receiving an influx of pictures and videos from his australian roadtrip.

she replied to him, informing him of her safe landing, before switching to oscar's contact. the aussie had texted her that he was waiting just by the exit to pick her up so she hurried with her bags to the large glass doors.

"piastri!" olivia exclaimed as she caught sight of the formula 1 driver. he looked up from his phone and smiled.

olivia immediately wrapped her arms around his neck when he reached her, dropping her bag to hold him properly. oscar buried his head in between her shoulder and collarbone.

"i'm so glad you're here, livvy."

"it's only been two weeks, oscar." the aussie pulled away but she held her waist.

"are we going to pretend you weren't a ball of sadness when i left?" he rebutted, "only been two weeks my ass."

"okay, i guess i've missed you." olivia playfully rolled her eyes and hugged the boy again.

"come on," oscar pulled away but this time reached for his best friend's suitcase, "have you eaten today?"

olivia shook her head, "plane food is nasty."

oscar chuckled, "let's get you some mcdonald's then." the short brunette perked up, grinning like a child with candy.

oscar led the way to the car, a driver waiting for the pair who helped put olivia's things in the trunk. "personal driver?" olivia sounded impressed.

"perks of the job." oscar winked at her as they took off, "can you take us to the nearest mcdonald's?"

the driver nodded. olivia looked out the window. despite going to many of oscar's f2 races, it was her first time in the middle east. she pulled down the window, laying her head on the back of her hands as she let the humid breeze travel through her hair.

oscar smiled as he watched her. the aussie hated being away from her. olivia was the only person who kept him grounded through all the hardships and challenges of motorsport. which is why leaving her for races was always so hard.

now that he was in formula 1, the pressure and expectations had doubled and he needed her presence more then ever.

oscar reached out for his best friend's free hand, her head turning at the feeling of their skin in contact. he engulfed her tiny hand with his, giving it three squeezes. olivia smiled and squeezed back thrice.

when they were 15 years old, oscar competed in the FIA karting world championship. before the final race, the young aussie had panicked. olivia had found him, sitting quietly staring at the floor. she immediately hugged him, taking his hand and squeezing it thrice.

"it means 'i love you'." she had explained to him, instantly calming his nerves. since then the pair had always squeezed each other's hand thrice whenever they needed it.

olivia munched on her last mcnugget as they pulled up to the hotel. oscar had gotten the brunette a room on the same floor as him. he thanked the driver, taking olivia's bag and guiding her inside.

olivia stood beside him, letting him handle her check in as he was the one who booked the room. oscar handed her the key as they reached the elevator to go up to the 4th floor.

"oh yeah, i could get used to this." olivia spin round taking in the luxurious room that was all for her. "i love the perks of your job."

oscar chuckled, "you should see the car they gave me."

olivia's jaw dropped, "they gave you car!"

the aussie pulled out his phone showing her a picture of the mclaren 720s he had gotten. "i think i'm going to get my license just so i can drive her."

"you should just get your license so you can drive, liv."

"but there's no point. i don't have a car and everything i need is in walking distance to our place." she argued. oscar raised his hand up in surrender.

olivia patted to the spot next to her ok the bed, oscar sauntered over and took a seat, "are you nervous?"

the brunette gave her a half smile and nodded, "but, you're here now so i know i'll be okay."

olivia leaned in and hugged him once more, "you'll be great."

"thank you. now get some rest, i'm down the hall. good night, liv." oscar said as he left the room.

"night, piastri." she sighed, changing into a new pair of comfy clothes before climbing into bed and checking her phone go text aiden.
