Who could ever leave me, darling?
But who could stay?

"I'll take the avocado toast with a side of scrambled eggs please." I point to the menu and then look up at the male server, who instead of writing my order down, is staring at me with flirty eyes.

Once my eyes reach his bright blue ones he turns back to his notepad and repeats back my order.

"Avocado toast, with umm, a side of, umm."

"Scrambled eggs." Tk nods his head at the server and finishes his sentence.

The waiter quickly writes down the correct order and then nods his head at both of us and walks off.

Tk and I both look at each other and slightly widen our eyes in embarrassment for the young waiter, and then a small chuckle comes out my mouth as I take a sip of water.

"Mhmm." Tk sounds as he quickly finishes a drink of his orange juice. "I forgot to tell you to tell who texted me the other day." He stops talking after the sentence and I look at him with eyebrows raised and questions filling my brown eyes.

"Who?"

"Brianna Cooly, Bri." He smiles at me but I just lower my eyebrows in confusion.

"Bri? From Manhattan?" My eyes are filled with doubt but he moves his head and unrolls his silverware from the napkin.

"What'd she want?"

He shrugs his shoulder "She was just asking about life in Texas, and asking if we still worked at the 126, with d—"

"Wait, wait, wait, Brianna— Bri, texted you— Tk, about the 126?" I throw my hand up to stop his sentence and widen my eyes.

"Uh, yeah."

"How does she even know we work there?" I lean back in my chair and stare at Tk.

"Maybe she ran into Mom, when Mom was still living there, and Mom caught her up since you never did." Tk takes another sip of his orange juice and then wipes his mouth on his napkin.

"What's the big deal if she texted me, she might be lonely Raya, I mean when was the last time you went out and got blackout drunk with your best friend? Because it's been the same amount of time with her that it's been with you."

"Yeah, except that's her literal job."

Tk glances to the side and then back to me in perplexity.

"Her job is to literally go to bars and clubs and promote them. How do you think we always got the VIP shit." I throw my hands up to him and then lay them on my lap.

"Why don't you go out anymore, I'm sure Carlos would go with you. Or Nancy, or Marj, or literally anyone."

I shake my head at his argument and take a drink of my water. "Tk when is the last time you saw me with an alcoholic beverage in my hand, in Texas." His eyes narrow slightly.

"Never Tk. In New York, if I wasn't working an overnight shift, I was out getting black-out drunk with Bri and our friends. And this was almost every single night. I was an alcoholic Tk, I drank every single night, for hours upon hours, where I would wake up and have no idea where I was, and you of all people know, that I am a very sad and angry drunk. It was terrible for my body, especially with my heart being in such bad shape. So why should I carry something with me when the whole point was for us to start over." He watches me speak and with every word I say his eyes grow a little more sadder.
