"But I know someday
I'll make it out of here.
Even if it takes all night
or a hundred years."──────⊱⁜⊰──────
"I want officers at every door. Nobody in or out until we verify. This is about to get a lot of media so we take crowd control seriously." Carlos barks out to a few of the officers. His sergeant hadn't arrived yet. Not that it would stop him from finding this guy but he knew he wouldn't have the control for much longer.
"Has anyone got in touch with Captain Strand?" he yells out. His body is in full panic mode. He was trying to keep it in. Trying to keep his emotions at bay but it was so hard.
"He and his son are on the way." One of the officers told him. His stomach turned as he thought about Tk.
His twin was missing.
"What about Detective Washington?" He asked and looked to the officers. His voice was shaky and empty. He just needed to get through this period. Wait till his superior officer got there.
"She's been notified sir, as well as forensics."
He takes a deep breath. Everything has been taken care of. She will be found. She will be. She will. She—
"Officer Carlos, walk with me." Sergeant O'Brian walks through. Carlos nods and joins his strut. It's quick but Carlos can tell it's coming to an end. When it does, the two are secluded from the lobby. It gives Carlos an opportunity to breathe. "You did good; manning that room, now you let me step in and take over."
Carlos nods along.
"You knew the victim."
Carlos's throat becomes tight. He can't speak so he nods. O'Brian can tell that this is hard on him. One of the hardest things he's ever had to do. The sergeant nods and then rests his hand on Carlos's shoulder. "We are gonna try our best to find her. Till then, you know I can't put you on this case."
Carlos looks slightly shocked. He knew he would slow him down but this is insane. He wants to fight back but a yelling from the lobby breaks the two up.
They both look over to a group of officers arguing with two men and a woman. Carlos's heart breaks. O'Brian looks the scene over and then turns to Carlos.
"Her family." Carlos states as tears well in his eyes. "Captain Owen Strand and Firefighter Tk Strand; both at the 126. The one in the back crying, that's her mom."
The blonde nods and makes his way over to the argument. Carlos stays back, waiting for Tk to notice him. And when he does; Nothing holds him back. Tk escapes past an officer and makes his way over to Carlos. Both of the men's eyes are puffy and red.
They are both so hurt.
Tk nods and his face scrunches up. "You think it was him."
His face snarls. "I know it was."
Tk looks down and shakes his head. "Then we find him and her."

My head hurts. Like bad. Worse than any headache I had ever had. Including hangover headaches. My body was tight and sore and my abdomen hurt like a—
"Motherfucker." I winced out as I stretched my neck out from its slumped position. The air was stale, it was hard to breathe. Or maybe that was the was just me. When I looked up the first thing I noticed was my hands were tied behind my back.
Not just tied but handcuffed. Tightly and every time I moved; they would cut into me slightly.
I continued looking around the room. It was dark. It was almost like a house, but it had no painted walls. Only wooden beams stuck through and what I assumed to be drywall everywhere. It looked unfinished.
