It's a shame that I caught you at a bad time,
It's a shame that I memorized your outline,
You were straight up with me, you were so kind,
But I knew what you knew,
honey, great minds."──────⊱⁜⊰──────
Her apartment building was still blocked off by about 5 police officers and a few crime scene investigators but O'Brian said the apartment was theirs to look at.
So now Carlos flashes his badge to one of his police officer peers like they don't already know him and lifts the crime scene tape from in front of him. Making it high enough for all 4 of them to pass through. Before the 4 make it to the door Carlos turns around and looks to everyone.
"They've cleaned up most of the stain on the floor but not completely so just don't look at it."
Of course, all 4 of them look on the floor when they enter and all 4 of them feel a wave of nausea pulse through them at the faint stain of blood. It reeks of cleaner inside the apartment but especially right over the spot.
Owen can only imagine what his daughter went through. That much blood. It's telling what the next few hours might reveal.
"Dad you can look through the bathrooms and closets, I'll look through her bedroom." Tk speaks before turning around. He reaches the start of the hallway before Bri calls out.
"What about me?"
Tk turns around. "You can help me." Truth is Tk wanted alone time with his sister's stuff. Stuff that was his at one point when the two lived together. But Carlos has only heard stories of this girl and his Dad is just there to get a glimpse of his daughter. It didn't seem fair to shove her off on Owen. Brianna nods before walking towards Tk and into the hallway.
As Tk pulls out Raya's bedside table drawer and sets it on the bed. Bri examines the pictures littered on the walls and the dresser.
There's one of just Raya and Tk as kids. Tk has an ice cream cone in his hand with a bright smile on his face while Raya has a sundae in her hand.
The next one is once again just Tk and Raya but this time older. Raya had just picked up Tk from rehab. She insisted they took a picture even after Tk fought her on it.
Tk came awkwardly walking out of the building. It was cold outside and his body shook not because of the withdrawal but because of the lack of clothing he had on. He was so proud of himself and all he wanted was to be home with his family.
So when his eyes connected with Raya a bright smile tugged across her face and the sign she was holding proudly lightly fell below her waist.
Tears welled in her eyes as the two started walking towards each other until Tk stood in front of her with sympathetic eyes.
But all he saw in Raya's was pride.
"I thought Mom would be here."
Raya shrug. "Am I not good enough?"
Tk smiles and pulls Raya into a tight hug. Raya hugs back even tighter. "God, I missed you."
Brianna's eyes traced to a new picture. Raya had her head tilted over onto her mother's. Gywns eyes filled with love while Raya's were shut. Enjoying her mother's warmth.
There were a couple more but one in particular caught her eye. "This is Myles?"
Tk looked over quickly before nodding and letting the sleep mask fall from his fingers. He softly padded over to the picture and grabbed it off the dresser. "Everyone had such mixed feelings on him. Mateo and Paul loved him but Dad— Dad could not stand him. They would argue and argue about him and Raya always defended Myles. All to get stabbed in the back. Literally and figuratively."
