Rays of sunlight glistened its golden beams through the tree branches as Seven strolled down the park near his home. The Summer breeze smoothed through the strands of his vermilion hair, relaxing him instantly. Taking one stride at a time, Seven finally realised that he had no idea where he was going, but he didn't care. He forgot everything. He forgot the stresses and dangers of his agency work, the dark past of his family, the mysteries of Mint Eye, and what happened to Yoosung. The sun even allowed him to believe that Saeran was with him right at that moment.
With the sun blinding him with its glorious rays, the young hacker could turn his head and pretend that his twin brother was walking with him - smiling, laughing, holding an ice cream cone as they walked, just like how Saeran used to do when the two of them were able to escape their mother's house as children. The boy's hair was the same colour as Seven's and the same golden eyes with an innocent look embedded within them, just like how Seven always remembered him. Those moments would only have lasted a few minutes at most, but they were always the best few minutes of his childhood. He and his brother, sitting next to each other eating ice cream as they watched the sun setting past the horizon, pretending that they had a normal childhood, a normal life, and normal parents.
Seven suddenly shook his head violently. He didn't want to think about either of his parents. They didn't deserve to be remembered, especially not in a moment like this one. Even though he knew Saeran wasn't really there, Seven wasn't going to let anything in his dark life remind him that he wasn't. He wanted to enjoy this moment for as long as the universe would allow him to.
None of the two spoke. They didn't need to. It was as though they both had a sixth sense that allowed them to speak to each other without actually speaking. A twin thing. Their own special thing that no one else could understand or could ever take away from them.
A moment later when the sun disappeared behind a large cloud in the sky, Seven turned back to where Saeran was, only to find an empty space beside him.
Seven halted in his steps as his heart turned ice cold once again. He felt like collapsing on the pavement, wishing the earth's crust would swallow him whole and take him forever. He was sick and tired of playing the facade of the happy-go-lucky 707 when all he ever felt every day was nothing. Numb, cold, nothingness. Although all the members now knew about Seven's past and knew that the hacker who took Yoosung had actually been his twin brother all this time, none of them could ever sympathise with him. His life was too complicated for that, and that made him feel more alone than ever before.
All of a sudden, as Seven stared at the empty space beside him, never wanting to move again, the sky darkened to an abnormal black, as though a large asteroid was falling towards the earth right above him. In a way, he wished there was. It could end everything in an instant and he wouldn't have to worry about anything anymore. And perhaps in the afterlife, Saeran could forgive Seven for leaving him all those years ago. Maybe death would be kind to him and show Saeran the truth, and he'd finally see his brother smile again.
Suddenly, a strong gust of wind howled angrily through the tufts of grass before shoving Seven backwards. He landed on his back, having the oxygen knocked out of his lungs as the moment with Saeran vanished from his mind in an instant. Catching his breath, he pulled himself back onto his feet, staring around him in confusion at the sudden weather change.
Drawing the fabric of his black and yellow hoodie tightly around the nape of his neck, Seven spun his body around to head back home, when he suddenly felt as though someone was watching him. He would have hoped it was his brain imagining Saeran next to him again, melting the darkness away that desperately tried to drown him, but the feeling he got this time was the complete opposite of that. Someone was watching him from the shadows. Someone with daggers in their eyes that pierced his skin from their intense glare.
