"How is he?" Jumin asked as Jaehee descended the stairs with a solemn look on her face.

"Distraught is the best word I can come up with for Luciel's state of mind at the moment. It seems that seeing Scarlett react to him like that brought many bad memories he didn't want to remember" she sighed heavily.

"Emjay didn't exactly help with that either" Jumin added with a note of frustration in his voice that Jaehee knew was targeted solely at Emjay. However, she could hear the questioning tone in his voice meaning that he wondered the same thing as she did. Just what on earth made Emjay turn on the man who'd almost killed himself for months trying to find Yoosung and almost died whilst rescuing him, so abruptly? She knew there had to be a reason, and she knew Jumin thought the same. It was then that it suddenly crossed her mind how she'd always been able to easily read the CEO-in-line's mind quite frequently, but she knew it was merely down to how much time they'd spent working together almost every day for years. They practically knew everything about each other.

"Yes, Emjay's sudden outburst didn't help at all" she agreed with another sigh. "Whatever made her react like that, I hope it doesn't impact Luciel's work too much. We can't delay finding Mint Eye's new location or where Luciel's twin brother is hiding out"

"Agreed. The longer we wait, the more dangerous it'll only become for us all"

"Indeed. But although Emjay's reaction was quite shocking, we can't ignore the fact that Scarlett was absolutely petrified of Luciel. She acted as though he was about to do something horrible to her"

"It was an extremely staggering moment, to say the least" Jumin spoke with hardly any emotion heard in his deep voice, however, Jaehee could clearly see the horror embedded within his dark eyes of what they had just witnessed. The fear Scarlett had shown wasn't any ordinary type of fear. It was sheer terror, the only kind of terror Jaehee had seen in horror films right before the victim is murdered. The thought of it made Jaehee shudder.

"But what could have caused her to react like that? Yes, she leapt out of her bed and ran like the wind from everyone when she first woke up but that was understandable. She had awoken in a strange place after all she'd been through at Mint Eye, all the brainwashing and the drugs they'd forced into her. It was only natural for her to act like that in such a situation. However, her reaction to seeing Luciel made no sense whatsoever. And, if I dare say, her fear towards Luciel seemed to be even worse from when she had first woken up"

"I think you may have answered your own question, Assistant Kang. I have no doubt that it was due to the way that "savior" had brainwashed her"

"But then, why only brainwash her with Luciel? Would it not have been harder for us to deal with her if that savior had brainwashed her about all of us? At first, I thought that perhaps it was due to the fact that Scarlett had already spoken with Luciel before and knew what he looked like to make the brainwashing easier, but then I remembered that she also knew what everyone looked like. She worked on the intelligence team, and although she hardly got to see you, I had spoken with her quite frequently. The more I try to wrap my head around it, the more confused I become" Jaehee sighed in frustration, feeling a migraine forming deep within her skull. And to make matters worse, she side-glanced out the window near them both and noticed that Zen was standing alone outside smoking another cigarette. That man was going to ruin his beautiful voice if he smoked that many times in one day!

Jumin tapped his fingertips against his chin in silence, his brow knitted into a deep frown below his dark fringe. "That is a good point. And from that, I'm afraid I don't have the answer to it. Only Scarlett holds the answer, and she can't remember most of anything of her experiences from her time at Mint Eye to answer it"
