"I really needed that" Yoosung breathed a sigh of relief as he leaned on the glass of the car window that had been rolled down halfway, allowing gusts of the air from outside to blow through the golden strands of his hair whilst they drove.
Emjay smiled. She'd been glad that she listened to Yoosung at the beginning. She couldn't believe that she almost turned down his idea of getting away for a while. It was just what they needed. Not only had it been great to eat the juicy Big Mac from McDonald's that she'd been salivating over the night before, but she and Yoosung also enjoyed a large fry-up in their favourite cafe around the corner from the motel they stayed at. They came across it while they searched for a spot near enough to Seoul that they could escape to whenever the pair were stressed and overworked and needed a break, and the little town had done its magic once again.
Although she felt no regrets towards leaving without discussing it with the members first, Emjay couldn't help but voice her worries.
"I hope we haven't caused everyone to worry too much about us"
Hearing her, Yoosung merely shrugged, the refreshed feeling of their short getaway still having a lasting effect on his mind and body. "I doubt it. We would have heard from them hours ago if that was the case, but they never messaged or called any of us. I doubt they even realise we left, even now" he added with a giggle as he stared at the clock on the dashboard of the car that read 13:26.
Nibbling on her bottom lip - a bad habit the girl had gotten into as a way of keeping her focus whilst she drove, Emjay sighed. "Yeah, perhaps you're right"
"Don't worry. Even if we did cause panic, we'll speak to them and explain everything that happened. They might be a bit mad at us, but I'm sure they'd understand"
"E-everything?" Emjay cast a horrified glance at Yoosung at the thought of having to be truthful with the members, reliving the stunt she almost succeeded in doing and seeing their angry reactions. She didn't know if she would be able to handle any more harsh words being spewed her way for how idiotic she'd been that night before Yoosung found her and stopped her.
"Hey, it'll be okay. They'll be understanding. In fact, I can almost guarantee that they will act more maturely than I did" Yoosung smiled sheepishly at her.
Emjay narrowed her eyes at him. "Yoosung..."
"I know, I know! Sorry, can't help it" the boy giggled before resting his hand on Emjay's thigh as she drove.
With her hands gripping the steering wheel, Emjay tried to hide the blush from burning across her face. She loved it when Yoosung cupped his hand around her thigh like that. It always gave her the impression that they were already married. She could see it clearly in her mind's eye, a ring around their fingers, their souls tied together as they bounded towards their home. She wondered when Yoosung would propose. Would he wait until after he finished his degree at SKY University? Surely he would. It'd be far too stressful to do it all while still being a student in the toughest university in South Korea. She wondered what he'd be like. Would he be a fluttering mess, tumbling over his words nervously as he bent his knee, tears rolling down his cheeks as he stared up at her?
Emjay stabbed her lip with her tooth. Focus on the road.
Moments later, Emjay rounded the corner and began to manoeuvre her car down the long, winding lane towards the safe house. Yoosung rolled up the passenger side window in case he forgot once the car had stopped. The last thing he wanted was to leave it open for bugs, spiders and hornets to infiltrate, and he knew he'd be the one to catch them and throw them out again as Emjay cried and screamed at their beady eyes and scrawly legs, not wanting to be bitten, sting, or even touched at all by the creatures that were nothing but grotesque in her eyes.
