The following day was a tense, and uncomfortable one. As the darkness of the night faded into the morning, there had still been no sign of the team that had been sent to the mysterious three-hundred-mile radius getting back in contact again, and Seven made the terrifying announcement that Mint Eye ambushing and attacking the team had now become a very likely possibility. The announcement had sent a wave of terror amongst the RFA members, leaving them all in a fearful limbo of not knowing what could happen next.
After Seven listed off the number of likely outcomes that could be heading their way, Scarlett's face had turned red from anger as Jaehee, yet again, had flatly refused to let Emjay or Yoosung know of the current situation.
"We're all in danger! You heard what Seven said! They deserve to know!" It was the first time Scarlett had ever raised her voice to Jaehee. If Scarlett had still been under Jumin's employment as a hacker at C&R, the girl would never have had the courage to stand up to someone as high up and professional as Chief Assistant Jaehee Kang, but now, as a new and fellow RFA member, Scarlett was merely voicing what she felt. She knew she had every right to, and at that moment, any fear she felt for her sudden explosive behaviour was overshadowed by the need to protect the two people who showed her the most love and kindness since she set foot within the association.
"Yoosung and Emjay are far too emotional and sensitive at the moment to be informed of such a terrifying situation" Jaehee replied nonchalantly and void of any emotion at all. "They will only panic which would only end up distracting us and Luciel who needs full concentration at a time like this"
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "And if the danger ends up coming, they won't be prepared at all! They need to be told so that they-"
"No, Scarlett. They will not be prepared and they also won't be prepared even if we did tell them. None of us have a clue what to expect and we must be vigilant. We will keep an eye on them both, but for the time being, they will not be told until they sort out what is going on between them both. It'll be too much for them to bear. And I warn you now, Scarlett, that if you go and tell them behind my back I will find out"
With the threat hovering in the air above her, Scarlett's mouth dropped open. She couldn't believe that someone who seemed so close to Emjay and Yoosung could act so coldly and as though she had no care in the world for them at all. She almost wanted to challenge the robotic assistant by asking her what lay at the end of her verbal threat if she was to tell the pair of the current, terrifying situation behind Jaehee's back, but Scarlett's lips pursed shut as she suddenly realised that she didn't really want to know, which was enough to extinguish the fire of her courage down to a single, barely lit flame. And without another word said, Scarlett marched from the kitchen, ignoring the worried glance Zen had cast her way before she reached her bedroom door and slammed it shut.
"Are you sure they shouldn't be told?" Zen asked once he was able to finally tear his worried gaze away from the empty spot where Scarlett had stood only moments ago. "I know I agreed with you before, but now I'm not so sure. I get that they won't have to worry like we are right now, but it kind of feels wrong to leave them in the dark like this"
Jaehee heaved out a sigh before falling into one of the wooden chairs seated around the mahogany table, her nonchalance act falling away almost immediately. "I don't know. I also agree with Scarlett that they should be told, but I just fear that they won't be able to handle the information well and it would end up worsening whatever they're going through in their relationship turmoil"
Despite their dire situation, Zen managed a smile. "So, you do care about them! When you were talking to Scarlett, even I was beginning to worry that you suddenly didn't care for Emjay or Yoosung"
Hearing his words, Jaehee suddenly looked fearful. "Oh, did it really come off that way?"
"To be honest, it kind of did" Zen explained through a grimace as Jaehee rubbed her tired eyes with her fingers.
