Yoosung remembered that day so clearly, every detail flashing across his eyes so vividly as though it had only been yesterday.
He sat in a luxurious planning room in front of a large, white marble table, his nervous eyes shifting across the empty chairs around him and stared at the large whiteboard stretched across the wall that had nothing on it, not even the remnants of faded pen marks.
He knew this room was brand new. He could smell it in the air, the freshness that permeated the space as though invisible flowers poked out from the walls and between the floorboards. He saw the shine gleaming across the chair he sat on and the clean floorboards that littered so brightly as though each corner had been polished. The charcoal black cushion pressed to his back even had the tag hanging from the bottom corner, barely out of sight and had obviously been forgotten about by its buyer.
Fixing his neatly cut fringe across his brow that rested neatly with the rest of the short strands of his brunette hair, Yoosung shifted uncomfortably as he waited. He stretched his body awkwardly in his school uniform, desperately wanting to take off his navy-coloured blazer to stop himself from sweating, but he didn't want to come off as rude. Instead, he lifted the collar of his blazer and stared for the umpteenth time at the new green badge that had been pierced through the fabric only hours ago that read "Student Body President" in yellow bold text.
Yoosung drew in a shaky breath. He was only sixteen, the youngest in his high school to have ever been awarded the role of student body president, and the weight of his new responsibilities made him feel sick. However, he couldn't help but smile. He knew how strict and competitive his school was. He knew how difficult it was to be recognised. He knew he deserved this award, this role, and he'd make sure that his teachers wouldn't regret their decisions.
Just as his confidence had made itself known, the door to the room finally opened, causing Yoosung to jump out of his skin. He sat up straight, hands resting on his lap and tried to hide the tremble cascading throughout his body as though he'd been sent to the principal's office.
Walking through the door in single file was Rika followed by V and a man Yoosung had never seen before. Although the man was a mere stranger, Yoosung couldn't hide the shock on his face at how unique this man looked. He had long silver hair clasped together into a long ponytail that ebbed down his back and almost reached his hipline. He had bright crimson eyes that dazzled against the light and were a stark contrast to his pale skin.
To Yoosung, he looked like a modern version of a vampire.
As the strange man talked with V, his fingers twitching across each other, showing the same nervousness as the boy at the table, Yoosung finally noticed that the man was limping. He peered down past the man's sand-coloured shorts to see a huge scar running down the side of his calf that looked red and slightly swollen.
"There he is!" Rika grinned excitedly as she flounced towards Yoosung and pulled him into a tight bear hug.
Smiling, Yoosung wrapped his arms around Rika, relishing in her hug that reminded him of the strong bond they had. Although they were only cousins with Rika being adopted into the family, the pair actually looked quite similar to each other. Ignoring their different coloured eyes and hair, Rika and Yoosung shared the same jawline, nose, and cheeky smile. When they were together, people often mistook them for siblings and Yoosung loved every second of it. In many ways, Rika felt more like a sister to him than his actual sister did, and there were times when he wished that Rika was his sister.
Pulling away from the hug, Rika gently laughed at him. "Why are sitting here so stiff like a scared little puppy? You know this place is mine to use which means it's yours as well, little cousin" she exclaimed before ruffling the boy's hair.
