[A Cat's Secret]

Project - part 1

School - 3rd person

Today was a normal day for everyone. Friends greeting each other and talking while still at the school gate, jokes getting thrown around and the sound of murmuring present among the decently sized crowd that has formed in front of the school gate.

Some students have a slice of bread with jam or butter, though some are unlucky to not have any spread on their slice. Some students come in, coffee in hand with bags under their eyes — a telltale sign that indicates they pulled an all nighter, maybe twice through their weekend.

And while this may seem normal — though it actually is — that once quiet and peaceful atmosphere has somewhat changed when a black van stopped at the school's entrance. In that black van though...

     "Well, this is new. I would not have thought that the company would put us in the same van. Right, Haerin?" "I know right? I thought HYBE would never put idols of the opposite gender in the same car — to school no less."

...were two idols who are very close to one another and have a secret. Though it was more like the cat insisted on it and the bunny has just agreed with her. So let's just call it a cat's secret. And that secret is...they are in a relationship. One only known by themselves.

Y/N POV:

(I never would've thought that the company had the balls to do this. I guess the producers caught on quickly — mainly Bang PD and Zico PD-nim. They weren't even mad about it.

And surprisingly enough, the producer for Ador, who is known to be strict, let it be. Which she should after not giving NewJeans credits on their songs. They just said to keep it a secret from everyone, which I'm thankful for.)

As my lovely, new girlfriend, Haerin, and I went out of the car — me helping her get down without tripping — everyone on the grounds was staring at us like we were deities that descended from the heavens above.

While I can kind of understand their feelings. I mean seeing two idols come out of the same car, being of opposite genders, do some level of pda, then proceed to go on like nothing is just jarring. But I can't help but be disturbed at their stares.

I mean who wouldn't? If you just got out of a van with someone at the same time then everyone just stares at you, you'd be disturbed too right? And if you're an idol, you'd be disturbed as well but not as much. After all, idols perform in front of hundreds of thousands of people on a stage where the only thing the audience can look at is us.

     "Why are they staring at us?" Haerin whispered to me. "It's because of what happened at the van. You know, when we went out together, and then I proceeded to help you down, and then now." I whispered back. "Oh... That explains it. But why does it sound like you're fine with it, Y/N? Aren't you uncomfortable? 'Cause I am." "I am uncomfortable. I just don't show it to look, you know... professional." "Hmmm. Alright. Well, see you later?" "Yeah see you later. Love you." "Love you too."

3rd person POV:

After that van incident, everything seemed to calm down, especially after the idol couple seperated. When both idols went to their respective classrooms, they were bombarded with question.

(A/N : by now, they are already 18 Korean age but Haerin is 17 and Y/N is still 16 [his birthday is around December mind you] and are second years just so you know)

They were asked question like, 'Are you two dating?' or 'Why did you two come out of the same vehicle?' and even 'Does the company know about this?'. Of course, being idols, both handled themselves and corrected their classmates' assumptions.

And while some assumptions are true — like the dating one — they still denied it seeing as admitting or verifying it will lead to rumors, scandals, or even a hiatus for an unknown amount of time. And no idol would want any of those, especially rookies, right?

Through the whole day, everyone would look at them and whisper about what they think their relationship is. Even if our two main characters were just sitting together in the lunch hall, everyone would whisper about how they look like as a couple and how famous they'd be if they actually were. Some even decided to ask them directly. But they quickly shot it down like they had done in our respective classrooms.

That aside, the day went as expected. Questions about idol life, sharing news, maybe even tea, talking about their weekend with their friends. Nothing could go wrong, right? Right?

In fact, nithing did go wrong. They were just shocked because the news their respective advisers had given them. That new being...

Haerin POV:

     "Alright class. Before I dismiss you guys, you will be having a project for our schools founding anniversary. There will be a different part for each year. For the second years, it will all be about music and performing. And since we have two idols in your year, they will have to do a duet. The song is their choice and they can do anything they want, as long as they perform together. So Haerin-ssi, you will be partnered with Y/N. Are you okay with that?"

(Well, this is unexpected. I think Y/N also knows this by now. I'm fine with it but the other students might make videos about us and unintentionally make rumors. And that's not fun. I'm sure he thinks that as well.)

     "Yes. I'm fine with it. It also makes it fair so I can't really get mad or even make a comment about it. And I'm sure Y/N feels the same as well." "Why do you think so?" "We're friends, we work at the same place, and I've known of him before he even debuted. I hope that clears it up for you all." "I see. Anyway, class dismissed."

Y/N POV:

(Finally. School is finished. But we're in quite the predicament. Well, better make the most of it and be cautious.)

I am currently walking toward Haerin's class since we were on opposite sides of the school. People were wondering why I'm heading away from the gate. Not to mention, everyone looked like they wanted to know what I was doing here. But, as you may have expected, I am here here to pick up my girlfriend.

As I stood at her room's door, I somehow felt nervous. Maybe it's because it's my first time here, or maybe it's because I'm going to see her friends for the first time. Pushing those thoughts aside, I knocked first, then I opened the door. There, I see Haerin sitting on her desk talking to her friends, facing towards the door.

When she finally sees me, her eyes widened, face in shock, making her friends look towards me as well. When they finally saw where she was staring at, their eyes widened as well, two of them covering their mouth and the other two quickly turning their heads back to Haerin with questioning eyes. Then she spoke...

     "Y/N-ah...why are you here?"

Okay! New chapter! I feel like I rushed their relationship now that I think about it but I'll make it work somehow. I also feel like there has been barely any character development, and even if there was, it would have been minor. But yeah. I'll try and fix it up using future events. Also, this is a mini-arc, and this won't be the only one. Though you can kind of already tell by the title since it has prat one written in it.

And btw, I've been procrastinating about whether I make a one shot request book or make a Haewon story. Though personally, I am leaning more towards the Haewon book. Tell me you opinions.
