! VAGUELY DESCRIBED MATURE SCENE NEAR THE END OF THE CHAPTER !
" Say you'll remember me,
Standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset, babe,
Red lips and rosy cheeks, say you'll see me again"
//
" He's so tall, and handsome as hell,
He's so bad, but he does it so well "
―"LET GO OF me, you podge!" I slap at Vasily as he shuts the door behind him. "Wonderful. Now I'm going to be sick." I clutch my stomach dramatically.
"You're just as dramatic as Nikolai," he mutters disdainfully, lip curling in discontent.
"And you're not half as pleasant," I retort. "Now, I'll be on my way, as the people frown upon manhandling future queens and locking them in rooms, and I frown upon anything that involves you." I reach for the door handle.
"My father will punish Nikolai for your actions, you know."
I tense and freeze, willing myself not to exit the room and destroy the door handle to desert Vasily in here until he rots away like a piece of moldy fish.
Not as though he isn't already like one.
"What do you mean?" I ask, slowly turning around.
Vasily folds his arms. "The King has never been fond of you. He's even less fond of the rumors that have been spread about you and my dear brother." He pauses, eyes narrowing slightly as a sick smile appears on his face. "He can have you assigned elsewhere."
"What are you. . ." My eyes widen. "Oh you sick, disgusting, son of a―"
"Careful," Vasily says tauntingly. "The people frown upon derogatory names aimed towards future kings."
I clench my teeth, hands tightening into fists as the door's handle bends at my will, threatening to snap. "What do you want, Vasily?" I force out, trying incredibly hard to keep my anger in check.
People at the palace seem to be splendid at infuriating me.
"You," he states. "In other words, I want something that Nikolai can't have, the one thing he won't be able to get."
I release a long, frustrated sigh. "This is so childish. I thought it would be something a little more. . . I don't know, reasonable?"
"I'm being perfectly reasonable," Vasily snaps defensively. "Nikolai has made it his life's mission to be better. But now he'll know who's really in control."
