this is really bittersweet but even if this ending doesn't satisfy some of you, it does have to end this way. nikolai and yi fell in love in an immature, unrealistic situation, and everything with them was always fast-paced and all passion. looking back, you'll realize they only really fell in actual love as they matured, and thats why it's important to me to bury that between them because they both need to progress and develop as characters.
in king of scars, maybe things will be different, but for now, this is how it has to be.
if, by any chance, this ending was less than enough, you can always imagine them meeting again and falling in love, as planned.
but things don't usually go according to plan
