I hadn't seen Cam since after awards at regionals. We both had been stuck in hours-long rehearsals all week. Cam had been officially grounded by Tom, but this time Gabby, Reese, and Logan all agreed to enforce it. Gabby and Reese because they wanted to win at nationals. And Logan because Tom threatened to tell Kay that he was letting Cam sneak out.
Cam: this is so homophobic
Cam: tom is overreacting, can't believe he's blackmailing logan
Cam: i miss you
Me: i miss you too
Me: but we'll see each other tomorrow
Me: what time are you guys leaving from valley?
Cam: tonight at midnight for some reason, you guys?
Me: also tonight at midnight
Me: so we should be getting there around the same time
Me: are you going to sleep for the whole way?
Cam: when have i not slept through an entire ride on the bus to and from competitions?
Cam: shut up
Cam: the mississippi bus ride was an isolated incident
Me: mhm sureeee
Me: when was the last time your sensor was replaced?
Cam: two days ago, so we'll be good
Cam: as long as my blood sugar doesn't bottom out while i'm sleeping
Me: well it's in normal ranges now so that's good
Me: have a snack before you sleep though
Cam: excuse me sir, one of us here is actually a type-1 diabetic
Me: yeah a type-1 diabetic that doesnt wake up to his alerts
Cam: shut uppppp
Cam: never should've let you have access to my alerts
Cam: shit I still have to pack
Me: CAM YOU HAVEN'T PACKED YET?
Me: YOU LEAVE FROM VALLEY IN AN HOUR AND A HALF
Cam: LISTEN
Cam: i have no excuse
Cam: but i have fallen asleep every day almost immediately after rehearsals
"Hayden?" My mom knocked on my door.
I looked up as she opened the door, "Yeah Mom?"
"Are you all packed?" She asked.
"Yep, all set." I grinned.
"And Jace is driving you?" She asked.
"Yeah. He's going to leave in about half an hour," I explained.
"Ok, perfect." She smiled, "Alright, good luck at nationals baby."
"Yeah." She turned to go, "Mom?"
"Yeah?" She asked.
"Can we talk for a second?" I asked, "I have something kind of important I want to tell you."
"Of course, baby. You can tell me anything." She smiled, sitting down next to me on my bed.
"You remember Cam, right?" I asked.
