Cam gasped, lifting his head up from my shoulder as we were watching some random movie that was on the TV, "Don't kill me."

"What, why?" I asked.

"You might need to borrow some makeup from someone," He said, looking at my neck.

"Cameron Michael Miller." I warned, "You didn't."

"I didn't think it was that easy to leave a mark!" He exclaimed.

I got up and rushed to the bathroom. There was a dark purple hickey on the side of my neck, "Cam!" I shouted, "It looks like you tried to suck all of the blood out of my body!"

"I'm sorry!" He laughed.

"We have nationals tomorrow!" I groaned, "You're so not sorry."

He leaned against the doorframe, "Not really, it's kind of hot. Just really unfortunate timing."

"I'm gonna text the group chat." I sighed, "Hopefully Emily or Kendall has concealer."

"Sorry." He grinned.

"At least do me a favor and take a picture of it so I can explain the dire situation." I sighed.

He laughed and took a picture on my phone.

Miller dater #2: pls

careless whisper: 412

"Ok, let's go. Room 412." I grinned.

"I have to come?" Cam asked.

"Cameron. This," I gestured to my neck, "is your fault. Yes, you have to come."

He sighed, "Fine."

"Do not complain." I warned him, "I will break your sticks."

"You wouldn't!" He exclaimed.

"Come on."

--

"What the hell do you want?" Emily opened the door.

Her hair was pulled back in a bun. She had a face mask on and had baggy sweatpants and a hoodie. It was extremely different than how I had normally seen her.

"It's 10:30 at night Hayden, I swear to God. What could you possibly need from ...." She started laughing.

"Oh, is that Hayden?" Fionna asked, "Yeah I said we could fix him up."

"Nice going." Emily looked to Cam, "I'm Emily, guard captain. You must be Cameron."

Cam shook her hand, "Guilty as charged."

"Guilty indeed." She grinned.

"Can we please fix my neck?" I asked, genuinely wondering if death by mortal embarrassment was a real thing.

"Sure, come in boys." Emily laughed, letting us in.

Cam sat on the desk in the room as I sat down on the bed closest to the door. Emily and Fiona mixed their foundations together and painstakingly applied it to my skin. There was another knock on the door.

Kendall begrudgingly got up to open the door, Jonesy was there, "Ok guys I know it's a bit early but...Hayden. Why are you in a girls' room?" She asked.

"Um." I had no defense or excuse or anything.

"His boyfriend gave him a massive hickey," Emily explained nonchalantly.

"Emily!" I exclaimed, my face bright red.

"Hello Cameron," Jonesy said.

"Hello Ms. Jones." Cam looked like he was going to die from embarrassment.

Jonesy took a step into the room, "You need it a bit darker."

Emily nodded, adding more of her own. Jonesy watched intently, "Looks good. Where's my drum major?" She asked.

"Her, Jace, and Logan are going over some logistics," Emily answered, "I don't know what dumb and dumber wanted but she'll probably complain about it when she gets back."

As if on cue, Maddy opened the door, "You would not believe the stupid reason Jace wanted to meet. Hi Jonesy. He wanted to ask if he should change his salute. The night before nationals? Jace nobody freaking cares what your salute looks like...why are we doing Hayden's make-up?"

"Cameron over there gave him a massive hickey," Jonesy teased.

"Can I just die now?" Cam groaned.

"No, you have to be embarrassed too. This is your fault." I glared at him.

"Listen you're the one-" I interrupted him.

"My band director is in this room right now Cameron, I would watch your words," I warned him.

He flipped me off, "Apologies Ms. Jones." He smiled.

"Ok. I'm just." She sighed, "I'm going to continue rounds. Hayden, your neck looks good. Make sure that stays on through the competition. Your mother would not be happy if pictures of you with a massive hickey were on the school website."

"Good night, Jonesy." I nodded.

"I'll see you in ten for your room check." She left the room.

"Right." I nodded.

"Let me walk you back." Cam got off the desk.

"How romantic!" Kendall teased.

"Shut up Kendall." I groaned.

"Chivalry isn't dead after all!" Emily laughed.

Cam and I left their room, "I am sorry about the hickey." He sighed.

"I know you are, I'm still going to tease you for it though." I grinned, kissing his forehead.

"Alright." He laughed, "I'll just have to let you return the favor sometime."

I paused in the hallway, and he turned around, "What?" He asked with that stupid Cam smirk.

"You can't just say things like that!" I groaned.

He rolled his eyes and held out his hand, "Come on. You gotta get back to your room for room checks."

I took his hand, and we walked back to my room, "Good luck tomorrow." He kissed me.

"Thank you. Good luck." I grinned, "Love you."

"Love you too." His face lit up with my favorite sight in the world. His stupid dimples and huge grin. I kissed him again, it was a bit uncoordinated because both of us couldn't stop smiling and laughing but it was so worth it.
