Kyianna’s POV

The car ride to school was quiet. As usual, Luhence was focused on driving, and I was staring out of the window, trying to distract myself from thinking too much. It had been like this for a while—us pretending we’re the perfect couple when, in reality, there was a lot we weren’t saying to each other.

Pagdating namin sa parking lot, I reached for the door, ready to step out. Pero bago pa ako makababa, he casually grabbed my wrist.

Don’t forget to watch later,” he said with a smirk.

I blinked at him, confused. “Watch what?

The pageant,” he replied like it was the most obvious thing ever. “I’m one of the contestants.

I froze, staring at him like he’d just grown two heads. “Wait, what?! You’re joining the pageant? Since when?

Since yesterday. I told you this morning, but I guess you weren’t paying attention.” He shrugged, all nonchalant.

So, you’re coming, right?

Hindi ko alam ano sasagot ko.

Just be there,” he said before stepping out of the car.

Napairap na lang ako, following him out. Great, I thought sarcastically. It’s not like I have much of a choice.

The gym was packed when Cyrielle and I arrived. Students from all departments were buzzing with excitement, eagerly waiting for the event to start. We found our seats near the center, just in time before the emcees came on stage.

Beshie, si Luhence sasali pala! Grabe! Hindi mo sinabi!” Cyrielle excitedly exclaimed, clutching my arm.

I rolled my eyes. “Alam ko naman, pero na-kalimutan ko. Kung hindi pa niya ako ni-remind, hindi ko na maalala.

She let out a laugh, shaking her head.

Grabe, kayo na nga, tapos nakalimutan mo pa? Dapat nga ‘di ka na pinaalalahanan, eh.

Ugh, stop,” I groaned, feeling my face heat up as I tried to ignore her teasing.

The lights dimmed, and the pageant finally started. Contestants strutted out one by one, showing off their casual outfits. I tried to focus on the event, pero hindi ko mapigilang isipin
bakit ba niya gustong manood ako?

Then it was his turn.

The entire gym erupted into cheers as Luhence confidently stepped onto the stage. He looked effortlessly perfect—like he was born to be in the spotlight.

His sharp features, his tall frame, the way he carried himself... it was no wonder why people couldn’t take their eyes off him. I couldn’t help but feel a little proud, kahit na alam ko naman na we weren’t a real couple.

Pero hindi ko rin maiwasan na makaramdam ng kaunting kaba. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard one of the hosts speak.

Good afternoon, everyone! I’m Kael, one of your emcees for this afternoon’s event!

And I’m Cassy,” said the female host.

Napalingon agad ako sa stage.
Wait, what? Cassy? As in the Cassy? Luhence’s ex?

Bigla kong naramdaman yung kaba sa dibdib ko, and I could feel my heartbeat quicken. Of all people... she’s the host? I glanced at Cyrielle, and she had the same surprised expression.
