Chapter 12 💍

Kyianna POV

Later that evening, the distraction I desperately needed came through Cyrielle, who didn’t give me much of a choice.

Come on, birthday party ni Zyra ‘to! You need this,” she said, her excitement infectious as she dragged me along.

The second we stepped inside, the beat of the music pulsed through the room, practically daring me to leave my thoughts of Luhence and Cassy at the door. I breathed in, trying to let the music drown out every lingering thought about them, hoping I could finally let go for one night.

Relax ka lang, sis,” Cyrielle whispered, slipping a drink into my hand with a grin.

Nandito tayo para magsaya, hindi para mag-isip ng kung anu-ano.

I gave her a small smile and raised my glass, grateful for her presence.

You’re right. Tonight, enjoy lang.

With that, I downed my drink, letting the warmth spread through me as Cyrielle pulled me deeper into the party. The crowd was alive, everyone lost in their own little worlds. For a moment, I let myself be one of them—just another person letting go for the night.

But then I caught a glimpse of familiar faces in the crowd. They were people I’d seen around Luhence’s group, ones I recognized from the times he dragged me along to events I barely wanted to attend.

They were gathered in a corner, laughing and talking loudly like they owned the place. My stomach twisted.

Really? Out of all the parties, it had to be this one?

I tried to push the thoughts aside, focusing on Cyrielle, who was in her element, dancing like nothing else mattered. I let her energy pull me back in, let myself sway to the rhythm, allowing the music to dull every uncomfortable thought that surfaced. For now, that was enough.

Masaya ba?” Cyrielle shouted over the music, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

I nodded, laughing.

Oo naman! Dapat laging ganito!

Just when I was starting to relax, I felt a pair of eyes on me. I turned, catching sight of Gabriel by the bar. He was as effortlessly composed as ever, his gaze fixed on me with an unreadable expression, his usual crowd around him. Our eyes met for a split second, and my pulse quickened just a bit. I quickly looked away, willing myself to stay calm, but part of me couldn’t help wondering if he’d come over.

Almost as if he read my mind, Gabriel pushed away from the bar and began making his way toward me, cutting through the crowd with that confident stride of his. Before I could prepare myself, he was there, smirking down at me.

Kyianna,” he greeted, his voice low, smooth, and clear despite the loud music.

I kept my expression as neutral as I could, despite the sudden flurry of nerves.

Gabriel.” I took a breath, trying to keep my tone casual.

Nag-eenjoy ka ba?

He leaned a bit closer, his smirk growing.

Oh, I was—until I realized you were here without my brother’s knowledge.

I forced myself to shrug, keeping my voice steady.

Hindi ko naman kailangan ng permiso niya para pumunta sa party, diba?” He chuckled, clearly amused.
