Julie's POV
Luke and I kept walking till we made it back to the sign up sheet. His hand was still intertwined in mine, but his hand pulled away from mine and grabbed the pen hanging off of the clipboard. He was about to write my name, but I stopped him before he could.
Julie: Wait, what are you doing exactly?
Luke: I'm going to write your name down. It seems pretty obvious.
Julie: Oh no. Didn't you just hear th-
Luke: No. I heard you saying you weren't good enough. I heard you sing, and Julie, because of that, I know you are good enough. In fact, I think you are really talented.
I started blushing. No one had really told me (besides Flynn) that I was talented. It made me feel special. I took the pen from him and wrote down my name in the sign up sheet. This is really happening. I'm actually about to perform.
???: Move it!
Someone pushed me to the ground, and I looked up and saw a girl with a pink wig and pink outfit with girls behind her with the same style with different hair. While I was standing up, she grabbed the pen and wrote down her group on the sign up sheet.
Luke: What the heck, Carrie?! There was someone standing right there!
Carrie: Sorry, Lukey, but I need to let people know that I'm performing, and I can't let my fans down.
Luke: When are you going to realize that popularity isn't everything?
Carrie: Umm, never.
She looks over at me and gives me the stink eye.
Carrie: Who's this?
Julie: Hi, I'm Julie.
I raised my hand up for her to shake my hand, but she didn't. She just kept looking at me like I offended her. I pulled my hand back and looked back at the ground.
Carrie: So Lukey, have you put any thought of having that coffee date with me? Maybe the movie will be better.
Luke: I'll pass, thank you.
Carrie: You know, one of these days, you will change your mind and go out with me.
Luke: Not a chance.
Carrie rolled her eyes and left with her group behind her. He turned towards me and sighed.
Luke: Sorry about her. She can be a pain in the butt sometimes.
Julie: It's fine. I'm just sorry you have to go through that.
Luke: It's okay, I'm used to it. I used to be friends with her brother. He was a part of the band but started bossing us around, and it went downhill from there. I'm still surprised, Carrie hasn't let go of that crush she has on me.
Julie: Wait, you're in a band?
Luke: Oh, did I forget to mention that? I'm in a band called Sunset Curve.
Julie: Sunset Swerve?
Luke: Sunset Curve! Anyway, my bandmates and I are also competing too.
Julie: That's so cool! Can't wait to see you guys play!
Luke: Thanks.
We just stared at each other for a bit. Every time I looked at his eyes, I felt a sense of peace and love? Should I call it love? Maybe it was some type of crush? I need to run this to Flynn.
Luke: I should, uh, I should get to my bandmates.
Julie: Oh ye-yeah.
Luke: I'll see you later. Kay?
