Luke's POV

I woke up in an empty room with the most unbearable pain imaginable. I noticed that I had a bandage around my abdomen with no shirt on. Looking around, I noticed I was in a makeshift hospital bed with monitors hooked up. I slowly placed my feet on the ground and slowly stood up. When I was getting up from the bed, I immediately reached for the desk drawer to help with my balance. Once I got used to it, I walked to the door and opened it. My hand was against the wall as I was trying to find someone, mostly my dad, to tell me what's going on.

Luke: Dad?

I called him a couple of times, hoping for a reply. When he didn't answer, I just went back to the room I was in. When I got there, I noticed my dad, back facing towards me. He looked worried and was muttering nonsense until I spoke.

Luke: Dad?

He turned around, and he looked at me with wide, tearful eyes. He walked towards me and engulfed me with a giant hug. I felt a little bit of pain, but I didn't mind it because I hugged him back twice as hard.

Mitch: *tearfully* I'm so glad you're alive. You scared me half to death.

Luke: *chuckled lightly* Glad to see you too, Dad.

He pulled away from me and placed both of his hands on my shoulder. But before I could say something, he hit the back of my head.

Luke: Owww. What was that for?

Mitch: That's for fighting against Caleb and getting shot. If your mother were here, she'll skin me alive.

Luke: Well, it's not like I had a choice. I wasn't going to sit by and do nothing.

Mitch: You are so stubborn.

Luke: I know where I got it from.

We both just started laughing because of the playful banter we were having. But it didn't last long because I felt pain again. My dad noticed, and he guided me to my bed.

Luke: How long was I out?

Mitch: For three days.

Luke: Three days?!

Mitch: Yeah, the bullet didn't hit any vital organs, but you lost a lot of blood. If it wasn't for Willie, you would've died.

Luke: Wait, Willie saved me?

Mitch: He did.

I can't believe it, Willie donated his blood to save me. After everything I did to him, he still saved him. When I see him, I need to thank and apologize to him. He deserved that much.

Luke: Where's Julie? Is she here?

Mitch: You don't remember? Luke, she was taken by Caleb.

Luke: I know, I just meant that while I was unconscious, I thought you might have saved her by then. Is she here?

Mitch: Luke, we didn't look for her.

Luke: What?

Mitch: Luke, we couldn't go because you were our number one priority. And we don't know where she went. She's not here, son.

Luke: No, that can't be true.

Mitch: It is. I'm so sorry, son.

Luke: Get out.

Mitch: Luke, I -

Luke: GET OUT!

My dad didn't say anything after that. He just stayed quiet and left, leaving me alone feeling terrible. Now, all I'm thinking about is how scared Julie is. What if she already thinks that I'm dead?

All I know is that if Caleb puts a hand on her, I'm going to kill him. Julie does not deserve to be tortured and be a pawn in Caleb's plan.

I suddenly noticed that my bracelet was blinking red. Now I remember, red means danger, which means that Julie is alive. Looking at my bracelet, I pressed the button, and suddenly, I heard static from the bracelet. I was about to turn it off when

Julie: Luke? Luke, are you there?

Luke: Julie! Oh, thank God you're alive.

Julie: *tearfully* Is that really you, Luke?

Luke: Yes, it's really me, Jules.

Julie: Caleb told me that you died and that I was never going to see you again. And when he told me that, I kept pressing the button these past couple of days, you never answered, and I didn't want to believe that you were gone, like really gone, and I didn't want to lose you and I really need you right now.

Luke: Jules, you're rambling. And it sounds like you're having a panic attack. I need you to breathe, okay. Breathe in, breathe out.

After finally getting Jules to calm down from her panic attack, I started talking again.

Luke: You okay?

Julie: Yeah, now I am. Thanks, Luke.

Luke: Now, Julie, I need you to listen to me. Where are you?

Julie: I'm in Elorerin. I'm in Caleb's castle.

Luke: How did you guys make it there so fast?

Julie: Caleb didn't want any breaks when we arrived here. The poor coach men looked exhausted and hungry after we arrived two days ago.

Luke: Now I hate him even more. What else?

Julie: When we arrived, he put me in a room.

Luke: What kind of room? Like a prison cell?

Julie: No, like a bedroom.

Luke: He hasn't done anything to you, like touch you?

Julie: No, so far, he's been treating me with respect. Which is weird that he is. The room reminds me of my old room, but it doesn't feel like home.

Luke: I know, Jules. We are going to get you out of there. Even if it takes months or years, we're getting you out of there. I'm getting you out of there.

Julie: I know, Luke. I have faith that you will. Just please hurry, I miss you.

Luke: I miss you too, so much. I love you so much.

Julie: I love you too.

Luke: Call me if you have something about Caleb's plan, okay? Maybe we could figure out what to do next.

Julie: Okay, I will. I love you.

Luke: Love you too. Bye

After that, we both ended the call. Now that I know Julie is alive, we can finally form a plan to get her back. We can bring her back home, not just for her dad, but for me too. I stood back up slowly and walked out of the door looking for my dad.
