Chapter 26

Luke's POV

As the sun was rising, I woke up feeling tired as usual. But as I was waking up, I noticed an arm wrapped around my waist. I looked to my right and saw Julie peacefully sleeping. I smiled, seeing the girl I love, looking so cute.

I have never been so lucky to have her in my life. And once we leave, I'm going to tell my dad about us. I'll probably get grounded for life, and he'll probably forbid me from dating her, but I'll do anything to keep Julie in my life. She means the world to me.

I leaned forward and planted my lips on hers, kissing her full of love. She kissed, probably meaning that she was awake. I pulled away and saw Julie flicker her eyes until it was wide opened. She put on a smile that made my heart melt.

Luke: *whisper* Good morning.

Julie: Hi. What time is it?

Luke: Oh, uh. *reaches for phone* It's 7:56.

Julie: *groans* Why is it so early?

Luke: Well, the sun does make it hard to sleep in. So...

Julie: Yeah, yeah.

We both chuckled until Julie turned to face me.

Julie: Thanks for staying with me.

Luke: It's no problem. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I leaned over to give her a peck on the lips. I pulled away slowly, seeing her deep brown eyes. I could stay here forever. But sadly, we have to get going before anyone is suspicious.

Luke: *stands up* Come on. We got to get up. We don't want to be late for breakfast.

Julie: Do we have to?

Luke: Yes. We don't want the King and Nick to get suspicious about us.

Julie: Since when did you get to be so logical?

Luke: *Putting on his uniform* Last night, after what happened.

Julie: Fine. Can you please leave so that I can change?

Luke: Yeah, no problem.

Julie: Wait.

Before I could reach the doorknob, Julie grabbed my shoulders and gave me one last kiss. We pulled away, and I just couldn't help but chuckled.

Julie: What?

Luke: I never knew you would be so bold.

Julie: Can a girl just kiss her boyf-

Before she could finish, I could see that she was hesitant about saying what I think she would say. So to reasure her, I wrapped my arms around her waist and leaned my forehead against hers with another smile to my face.

Luke: You can say it.

Julie: *exhales* My boyfriend.

Luke: I like the sound of that. Now get ready, okay?

Julie: Okay.

I laughed again and kissed her on her forehead, leaving the room with a smile on my face. 5 minutes later, Julie walked out of the room and nodded towards me, signaling that we had to pretend that we didn't feel anything for each other. Even though we both hated it, it was important for the mission.

We made to the dining room, where the king, Nick, my father, and our friends were sitting at the table. Julie walked over to the table, and I pulled the seat for her, making sure that they could see that we weren't attracted to each other.

Once she was sitted, I pulled up my own chair to sit next to Julie until the king called out to me.

King John: Young man, maybe you should sit next to one of your fellow comrades. My son would like to sit next to his Fiancée.
