Chapter 30

Luke's POV

This is it for me. Caleb drew out his sword, and he pointed it towards me. He put the sword underneath my chin and made me look up at him.

Caleb: It didn't have to end like this, but I don't like loose ends.

He lifted the sword up, and I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact, until I heard a gunshot. I looked up and saw Caleb's sword detach from his hand while Caleb was rubbing his wrist. I turned my head around and saw my dad with his gun raised while my friends were behind him.

Mitch: Stay away from my son!

Luke: Dad!

Onyx: Ahh, there you are, Patterson.

Onyx took out his gun but didn't raise it up yet.

Mitch: Give me my son, Orion!

Onyx: Aww, but we were just getting ourselves acquainted. You never told me about my nephew.

Mitch: He's not your nephew! And you better let him go, or else I'll -

Onyx: Kill me? Look what happened at Meadowbrook? Do you see me dead? You must really think you can beat me.

Mitch: I put you away once, and I'll do it again.

While they were talking, I was trying to get out of the ropes as fast as I could. I might have rope burn, but once I got out of the bond. I slowly stood and signaled my dad to keep talking. But once I was about to make a move, Onyx turned around and punched me in the face, making me fall on the ground. He pointed the gun to me with a smirk.

Onyx: Nice try, mini Patterson.

Before he could shoot, I saw Reggie pounce on him while Flynn kicked him in the leg. Alex was going to get the sword before Willie stopped him, and their fighting hand in hand combat.

I looked for Caleb, and he wasn't there until I saw him crawl towards his sword. I immediately got up and was about to get it till he grabbed my foot, making me trip.

He tried getting up, but I pulled him down by the ankle. Before I knew it, we were tackling each other to make sure none of us could get the sword. He got on top and started punching me left and right until I finally managed to get him off of me.

I ran to the sword, and when I was about to pick it up.

*gunshot*

Narrator's POV

Everything slowed down for Luke as his hand went down to his abdomen, and he felt a liquidity substance. He touched it and brought it up to his face to see blood on it.

Caleb grabbed his sword and ran off while Luke turned around to see everyone. They gave him shocked and worried looks. He glances at Onyx, who is running where Caleb was. But when Luke's eyes met his father's, tears were starting to fall down on his face.

Luke: Dad?

And with that, he fell to the ground. Everyone ran towards him, but they made room for their captain. As the Captain, no, Luke's father kneeled down towards him and grabbed his face with a worried face.

Mitch: Luke, Luke, listen to me. You are going to be fine. We'll find some help.

Luke: Dad, i-it's hu-urts.

Mitch: I know, I know. Reggie, Alex, get some of the castle workers to help us and get the town doctor over here fast! Now!

They jumped at the sound of Mitchell yelling at them and immediately ran to get help.

Mitch: Flynn, gets some towels. We need to stop the bleeding and apply pressure.

Flynn: Yes, sir.

Willie was just standing there, seeing the scene unfold. He was behind the Captain, who was cradling his son's head.
