Here's another late update. I've decided to switch my update day from Saturday to Sunday since that seems to be when I'm able to update. So updates will now be on Sundays. Comment and of vote and let me know your thoughts. Please enjoy.
Kurt left Free in the garage and headed back to the living room where he and Theodore had been confronted by who Kurt believed to possibly be the leader of the group they found themselves targeting. He found Theodore standing in the middle of the room but the guy who'd confronted them was nowhere in sight. Norman was still not conscious but they couldn't wait for him to wake up. They had to deal with these guys now before someone else showed up and confronted them. Norman could rejoin them when he woke up.
"What happened after I left?" Kurt asked as he approached Theodore who had his gun drawn and aimed at the kitchen.
"After I sent you to check on our hostage one of the other guys in the group ambushed me and hit me from behind with a tree branch. Probably the one they cut off that tree near the side of the house earlier. He and the one who first confronted us disappeared into the kitchen when I took aim at them. I might have hit one of them but I doubt they will still be in the kitchen," Theodore informed him. "I don't hear them. What about the hostage?"
"He somehow got loose. I don't know how. I went into the garage and he was sitting on the floor in front of the overhead door and not where we left him but the ropes we used to bind him were scattered on the floor near the stairs," Kurt reported.
"Were they cut? How'd he get loose?" Theodore wondered out loud.
"They didn't look cut. Maybe he managed to loosen the ropes enough to slip out of them? It looked like someone untied him. I didn't see anyone else around though."
"These guys scattered before we entered the house," Theodore reminded Kurt. "One of them could have snuck into the garage after we came in here to let him loose."
"Possibly," Kurt agreed. "I mean one of them snuck up on you. So yeah one of them probably did go in and untied him."
"I'd say so," Theodore muttered clearly annoyed this was taking so long.
"Why stay in the garage after though? Why not leave and find somewhere to hide like his friends did?" Kurt asked. "And where is the guy who released him?"
"Is he really still in the garage?" Theodore inquired.
"He was a few minutes ago. probably still is," Kurt told him. "He said Gabe untied the ropes binding him."
"Gabe? That's the same name as the guy you killed in the garage when we committed that massacre four years ago."
"Could someone in the group have the same name as that guy?" Kurt questioned as Theodore shrugged.
"It's possible. It's a fairly common name," Theodore mused. "Anyway I'm not about to believe there is any such thing as ghosts and that this house is haunted. These kids are just trying to scare us into leaving. Did you retie him before rejoining me?"
"I wouldn't believe there was anything haunting the place but look at these scratches on me. Look at Norman. The hostage in the garage getting loose has a good explanation. Someone from this group went in and untied him. Norman being out cold still also has a good explanation. One of these guys beat him up and just won't admit it. But these scratches on me don't. These scratches just suddenly appeared out of nowhere. There was nothing there when I got them. You saw it. and no I didn't think to."
"I can't explain that either but it has to have been some sort of trick," Theodore surmised annoyed that Kurt didn't restrain their hostage after finding him loose.
