Jin and Fubuki made it to the room upstairs where Akari and Mick had died. They were surprised the criminals hadn't caught them yet. Sure they hadn't spotted them yet but surely they must have heard them heading to the stairs or even going up them. Jin and Fubuki moved as quickly and as silently as possible to avoid being caught and so far it was successful. Surprizing but relieving.

Right now Fubuki was sitting on the floor beside the bedside table while Jin was looking around for something to push against the door to barricade it. There was the bed but it was too heavy for him to move on his own and Fubuki couldn't help move it do to his injury. There was the bedside table. Jin could move that without Fubuki's help. Would it be enough to keep the criminals out though?

Jin looked over at Fubuki. He was breathing hard and shaking. His hand was still firmly pressed against his injured side but his hand and the clothes around the area were covered with blood. Jin knew moving him again was a bad idea so that table would have to be enough to keep the criminals out. He and Jin were now most likely trapped here in the room until help came. Fubuki's eyes were closed right now as he tried to keep quiet through the pain and keep his breathing calm and steady.

"Yeah we're definitely stuck here for the time being," Jin said quietly.

He watched as Akari, the female ghost trapped in the room, appeared on her knees in front of Fubuki. He watched her reach for Fubuki's hand in worry. Fubuki must have felt her presence because when she reached for his hand to move it and take a look at the injury he had opened his eyes. As Jin continued to watch what was happening before his eyes he realized Fubuki could see Akari when he couldn't see her before.

This was a shock to Jin and to Fubuki as well. First Silas was injured and gained the ability to see ghosts now Fubuki had the ability to see them after being injured. What were the odds? And how was it even possible? Jin knew Fubuki could see ghosts now because he watched confusion at seeing the girl before him enter his eyes then realization. Fubuki quickly realized the girl kneeling in front of him was the female ghost who had died in this very room.

"You can see her can't you Fubuki?" Jin asked his friend.

"Yeah," Fubuki confirmed.

"First Silas was injured, came close to death and gained the ability to see them. Now you've been injured by those same criminals downstairs and can now also see the ghosts," Jin mused in a low tone. "How? What do you and Silas have in common? No it's got to be something else. A genetic ability you both have. But what activated it?"

"The guy...with the gun...Didn't Silas say...he was the one who...shot him?" Fubuki gasped out clearly in a lot of pain.

"Yeah but. How does being shot by the same person give two different people the ability to see ghosts when they couldn't before?" Jin wondered. "Yes Silas could have and might have died if we hadn't found him when we did and took care of him. And being that close to death could allow for someone to possibly see the ghosts in an area they are in if any are there for the time they are near death. The reason this could happen is when someone was near death the veil between the living and the dead weakens allowing the dying to see the ghosts trying to interact with them to be seen.

The thing was Silas wasn't close to death anymore since he'd been taken care of and his wound seemed to have stopped bleeding now as far as Jin knew and he was doing much better but he could still see and talk to the ghosts trapped in the house. Meaning he had a hidden ability in his family to do it all along and it was probably dormant until he was injured and brought close to death which was what would have activated it. But Fubuki. Fubuki was just injured a little while ago. He hadn't lost a whole lot of blood yet to kill him but he might have lost enough to start weakening the veil enough to show him the ghosts. Would Fubuki still be able to see them once he was stabled and recovered or did he also have a dormant ability that was activated by his near death experience?
