I woke up with a nervous feeling in my gut. Today was the 27th of February. The day of the court hearing. The day the decided the fate of my little boy…

I wanted to cry, I wanted to smile. I was full of mixed emotions but all I wanted was for Jacey to be happy and have a decent life. I wanted to give him all I could, he was the thing I cared about most in the world, apart from Michael and my family. I sighed and sat up in bed rubbing my eyes with my fists.

‘’Morning’’ Michael mumbled from next to me

‘’Sorry, did I wake you?’’ I asked him

‘’Nah, I was already half awake, I didn’t sleep much last night’’

‘’Me neither…I’m so scared Michael’’ I looked him in the eyes and he took my hands in his own

‘’Me too, but I promise, I’ll sort everything out, don’t worry’’. He stroked the back of my hand with his thumb and smiled at me.

I walked downstairs to see Lynn feeding Jacey his bottle. Vince was eating his breakfast and Michael was getting dressed still. I was dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans and a Superdry shirt, my hair was straight and slightly puffed up, I only had on little make-up.

‘’Morning love’’ Lynn smiled as I slowly wandered into the lounge

‘’Morning Lynn’’ I replied, taking a seat next to her

‘’How are you feeling?’’

‘’Alright thanks, I didn’t sleep much last night though, neither did Michael…’’ I sighed

‘’I’m not surprised, it’s a big day for everyone’’

‘’Yeah, especially Jace…’’ I stroked my little boys head.

We soon arrived at the court and we jumped out of the car. Vince carried Jacey whilst Michael held my hand as we walked inside.

‘’Hey, could you loosen your grip, I’ll start to draw blood’’ Michael chuckled and I laughed a little too, despite the situation

‘’Sorry, just really scared that’s all’’

‘’Hey, don’t worry, it’ll all be ok’’ he kissed my forehead as we walked through the door. My mother and father were there, along with Wayne and Col. I looked over to the corner where Cristiano was sat with his girlfriend, it wasn’t the same girl from last time we spoke. This is exactly why I don’t want Jacey living with him.

We sat for a while and everyone was fussing over us but I stayed quiet and let Michael do the talking. I wasn’t in any state of mind to have a general chat to anyone right now. Since we were in court, children were obviously not allowed in. Because of this, Jacey was taken into the nursery where he would remain and then taken by whichever of Cristiano and I won the case. I wanted to cry but I knew I couldn’t. Not here, not now.

I handed my baby over to the man and kissed his head.

‘’I love you Jacey, don’t ever forget that’’ I whispered. Then, the doors opened and we walked inside. This was it.
