I pulled up outside my mum and dad’s house. That was the first place I went since I didn’t have enough money on me to get me to the hospital. I paid and thanked the taxi driver and he got my case out of the boot for me. I literally ran to the front door and pushed it open.
‘’Mum! D-ad’’ my voice broke as tears streamed down my face. I heard a pounding of footsteps and they were both soon stood in front of me. It took less than a second for them to engulf me into their grasp.
‘’It’s all my fault’’ I sobbed into them, ‘’everything’s my fault’’
‘’Don’t worry Alice it’s going to be fine just don’t worry about a thing’’ my dad told me. Even though I could tell by his voice he was lying.
‘’Where’s Levi?’’ I asked
‘’I’m here!’’ he ran and hugged my knees. I bent down and hugged him back tightly ‘’Where’s Jacey? Is new daddy going to be OK?’’ Levi asked. I sighed and looked at him
‘’Jacey’s with his daddy for a while because I need to be with new daddy’’ I smiled weakly at him. He just nodded and carried on hugging me.
‘’We need to get to the hospital now’’ I said
‘’Right, yes’’ my dad said. We all went outside and hopped into the car. We drove as fast as we could to the hospital. I only had one thing and one thing only in my head. Michael. It was all my fault he was like this. What have I done!
We pulled up and I didn’t even wait for the car to fully stop before jumping out and running inside with Levi next to me. I pushed my way through all the camera men and reporters, shoving microphones in my face.
‘’Michael Carrick’’ I said to the reception woman
‘’Room 204, left wing, ward 16’’ she told me. I didn’t even thank her, I just set off running again, weaving in and out of everyone.
‘’Mummy slow down!’’ Levi cried
‘’Sorry Le, I need to find daddy because-‘’ I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Ryan with his hands on the window, separating us from Michael. I dropped Jacey’s hand and stood next to him.
I looked through the glass and couldn’t believe what I saw. Michael. The man who was my friend, who turned into my boyfriend, was unrecognisable. His face was torn up, cuts and bruises everywhere. Stitches covering his gorgeous face that I just wanted to kiss. His eyes were swollen so much, they were black and bruised when they were once sparkling blue. Tears rolled down my cheeks and I pressed my forehead against the window.
‘’He was fine’’ Ryan spoke, ‘’He was fine before I left’’ he said, barely above a whisper
‘’What, what do you mean?’’ I quivered
‘’He rung me that night, when you had that argument. He told me everything that happened and I told him that it would all work out…I left and the next thing I know…’’ he turned his head back to face the glass
‘’It’s all my fault’’ I whispered
‘’Don’t be stupid-‘’ I cut him off
‘’No Ryan, if I hadn’t have gone off over something small, this wouldn’t have happened. And now, I’ve ruined not just his life but everyone who he works with and who he cares for’’ I whispered
‘’Alice you didn’t do this, it wasn’t your fault’’ he looked at me
‘’It was Ry, I’ve gone and messed his and all your lives up because of one stupid decision!’’ I cried. He placed a hand on my back
‘’No it wasn’t! He was the one that said it, you had every right to do what you did, don’t beat yourself up about it’’ he hugged me and tears rolled onto his shoulder
‘’Mr Carrick I advise you to…’’ My eyes shot open when I heard a muffled conversation from inside the room. My head turned to face the other way. His bright blue eyes looked directly at me. I looked back. There was only one thing I managed to do. And that was to mouth the words
‘I’m sorry’.
