We took our seats and the shuffling soon died down when the judge walked in. Everyone rose to their feet.

‘’We are here in the court room today, the 27th of February 2013 to deliberate the custody of Jacey Duncan Edwards Ronaldo. Court in session’’ she then banged the gavel, everyone sat down.

‘’Now, we are gathered here today to confirm the custody of Jacey Duncan Edwards Ronaldo. We will first hear the side of Mr Cristiano Ronaldo Dos Santos Aveiro’’ she spoke. All eyes turned to Cristiano who stepped up to the podium to speak.

‘’Well, at the start, when Alice and I were dating, we were just like any other couple, happy and in love,’’ I felt sick on my mouth and held onto Michael’s hand. He looked at me but I didn’t turn my gaze from Cristiano, I couldn’t bear look at Michael because I knew what Cristiano was going to say. I didn’t want to see how hurt Michael looked. ‘’We got a little carried away one night and what happened is obvious. The next morning, I left a note saying I’d gone out and when I returned home, Alice was gone’’. He stayed stood up at the podium whilst the judge looked down at her notepad and started to rapidly scribble down on it. My glance changed as a loud shuffle and scuffle of pens came from the jury sat on the other side of the loud, echoing court room.

‘’Thank you, Mr Ronaldo. Now, Miss Edwards, if you would kindly tell us your point of view’’ she spoke. I swallowed and gently let go of Michael’s hand. He smiled at me reassuringly and I nervously walked up to the stand. I rested my hands on the wood and began to speak.

‘’Well urm, I met Cristiano in Madrid. I was in quite a confused state of mind at that period of time, as Eva knows’’ I looked over to Eva, David’s sister, who was sat next to Col. ‘’There wasn’t really much sense going through my head at that time but what happened happened. Cristiano and I started dating as you already know and I guess it just happened. The next morning I found a note he left me. It said that he, Cristiano, had left for training and that he’d be back later and I should just help myself to any food or drink and watch some TV or something to amuse myself. I thought of it as nothing as they train every day. I made myself some breakfast and then sat down to watch TV. I turned on the news and there was a picture of Cristiano and I from the day before at the beach. Then there was a picture of him and a model holding hands, that photo had been taken early this morning. That was when I booked my flight and flew home. Only a few days later I actually realised I was pregnant…’’. I swallowed and stayed stood up, resting my weight on the podium.

‘’So your saying you didn’t inform Mr Ronaldo that you were pregnant with possibly his child? I mean, you knew it was his didn’t you?’’ she spoke. I swallowed and cleared my throat before speaking

‘’Yes, it was definitely Cristiano’s…I just didn’t know what to do…’’ I said quietly. The judge wrote down again on her pad. I just looked at her, trying to work out what she was writing from her pen movements, of course, I failed.

‘’You may sit back down.’’ I nodded and did so. I followed hehr with my eyes and she walked over to the jury, not even bothering to take a listen to anyone else’s point of view of the situation.

I went and sat down next to Michael, the court room stayed silent and an eerie echo bounced off the walls and ceiling. I gripped Michael’s hand. No words were said between anyone. The silence remained, however was broken when the judge’s high-heel shoes clicked along the floor as she walked back to her table.

I swallowed hard as she sat down.

‘’After some deliberation and all points taken into account, the custody of Jacey Duncan Edwards Ronaldo goes in the favour of…’’
