‘’Cristiano Dos Santos Aveiro. Case closed’’. My heart sank. The anxiety poured out of my through my tears. My legs turned to jelly and I found it hard to breath. I couldn’t hear anyone. I felt myself being helped to stand up and guided out of the room. It was like you were at a football match, the sound was so loud. My bottom lip quivered and I began to cry again. My little boy. My pride and joy being taken away from me. I was almost dragged by someone, probably Michael or my father out of the court room. I was sat down on a bench and I immediately threw my head into my hands as if my neck was no longer strong enough to support my head. I couldn’t even think straight. My vision was blurry and I still couldn’t hear what people were saying. Everyone was fussing around me. All I wanted was Jacey and Michael. I lifted my head to look around but Michael was nowhere. After that, I bowed my head once again and it stayed there until I felt a soft hand on my back. The noise had died down and I looked up. It was Michael. He was sat next to me, his eyes as red as mine and he had been crying too, hence his tear-stained cheeks.

‘’I’m so sorry’’ he whispered. I said no words. I just collapsed into his arms and he held me there for what seemed an eternity.

‘’You promised’’ I sobbed into him as he rocked me back and forth

‘’I know I did, I’m so sorry, I genuinely thought that this wouldn’t happen, I’m so, so, so sorry. You know how much Jacey means to me as well as you don’t you?’’ he looked into my eyes and I nodded, before falling back into his grasp.

We stayed in silence for a while until someone cleared their throat. I looked up to see Cristiano stood holding Jacey, his girlfriend stood next to him. She didn’t look as bad as the other one.

‘’Urm, I think someone wanted to see their mummy’’ Cristiano said with a small smile. I swallowed and sat up straight. He gently handed me Jacey and I cradled him in my arms. His little hand reached out towards Michael and Jacey clutched onto his finger. I had tears welling in my eyes once again. We felt like a family for the first time. But that didn’t matter, Jacey was leaving us, right now.

Gabby, (Cristiano’s girlfriend)’s P.O.V

We had just won the court case and I couldn’t be more happy for Cris. I couldn’t bear to think what it would feel like to be in Alice’s position though. She was literally carried out of the court room by her father because she couldn’t stand, she was that shocked. She looked distraught. I felt for her, I really did. And now, he son was being ripped away from her. I know that it sounds like I’m on her side but I’m not really on anybody’s side. I love Cristiano and he deserves to see his son but you can see blatantly how much that little boy means to Alice. The last month since he was born you can see how much she’s come to love him and it’s obvious that Jacey means the world to her.

I tugged on Cristiano’s arm as we watched Alice and Michael with Jacey. Cris turned and looked at me. I took his hand and pulled him outside.

‘’What’s up?’’ he asked, smiling

‘’Well, I’m not taking sides here at all before you say anything, and I couldn’t be happier for you winning the case, it’s just, look at them’’ we both looked through the glass door at the three of them together. The looked like a real family. ‘’Look how perfect they are together. A child needs a mother to grow up with’’ I said

‘’He will, he will have you’’ Cris said, taking my hand in his warm one

‘’I’m nothing compared to Alice…’’

‘’Hey, don’t say that, you’ll make a great mum’’

‘’Thanks, but I mean I won’t be as good as Alice, it’ll feel wrong for me having Jacey pretending I’m his mum. Alice is the best thing for him and we both know it Cristiano’’. He looked at me and then back through the door. I saw a tear roll down my cheek, ‘’I know that you know what’s best too, Jacey has to stay here’’. He looked back at me, he had tears in his eyes but he held them back. He nodded.

‘’I understand, you’re right, a boy needs his mother’’ Cris breathed in and then let out a massive breath. He clutched my hand and we walked back inside.

Alice’s P.O.V

‘’Well, we better be getting back now’’ Cristiano said. He and his girlfriend had been for a talk outside and they had just walked back inside.

I sniffed, ‘’Alright, just a second’’ I said. I looked down at Jacey, ‘’Mummy loves you Jace, I always will ok? I’ll see you soon, don’t worry’’ I whispered. I then lightly pressed my lips against his head and then stood up, handing him over to Cristiano. He looked at his girlfriend.

‘’We urm, Gabby and I were talking just now and, even though I won the case, Gabby persuaded me to let Jacey stay here with you’’ my jaw hit the floor, no words were said, ‘’She told me that a boy needs his mother and that it’s obvious how much he means to you…not that I don’t love him too because I do, he’s my son, but I want the best for him, and the best is here, with you and Michael’’.

‘’Are you being serious?’’ my frown turned into a huge smile

He nodded. ‘’He needs to stay here with you, I’ll go and get the custody changed myself’’

‘’Oh my gosh, thank you so, so, so much. You honestly don’t know how much this means to me. Any time you’re in the UK or if we come to Spain, you can come and see him, and when he grows up, he can fly over and live with you for some time, like other parents do’’ I smiled a little, so did Cristiano

‘’That’s perfect’’ he replied. He then kissed Jacey’s head and mumbled something to him. Jacey lifted his arm up and touched the side of Cris’ face. I smiled sadly at how cute they looked.  He then gave Jacey to Michael who graciously took him into his arms.

‘’Thank you, thank you so much’’ I said to Gabby, she smiled

‘’It’s fine, he needed to be with his mother, I would never be able to do what you’re doing, you’re an amazing mum’’ I blushed

‘’Thank you, I’m sure one day when you have children of your own, you’ll be better than me’’ we both smiled and hugged each other. I then gave Cris a hug. Not because I loved him, because I don’t. But because of what he’s done. He’s changed my life and proved to me that he’s not such a bad guy after all.

In the end, I won. I got my son back.
