We pulled up in the car park of Toys R Us. I helped Levi out of the car. Col and Wayne offered to look after Jacey for us whilst we got Levi settled in more. I took hold of Levi’s hand in my right and then Michael grabbed my left as we made our way across the car park and towards the entrance of the shop.
‘’Go on then Levi, go and have a look’’ I said, letting go of his hand. He ran straight to the football related area.
‘’You didn’t have to do this you know, basically let him go wild in a toy shop’’ I said to Michael as we slowly followed Levi
‘’I know I didn’t, but his parents just died, I know he doesn’t think of it like that but I want to make him as happy as I can when he lives with us.’’ Michael replied. I looked at him in awe and rested my head on his shoulder
‘’You’re so sweet Michael, you know that don’t you?’’
‘’I don’t know if ‘sweet’ is the word to describe a man, but I’ll go with it’’ he chuckled and kissed my head as we found Levi.
He was kicking a football up and down the aisle.
‘’Levi stop kicking the ball in the shop!’’ I said
‘’Sorry’’ he looked at me with puppy dog eyes and picked the ball up, ‘’Can I get this please?’’ he held the ball up to Michael
‘’Sure, we need a net to kick it in though!’’ Michael grinned and so did Levi. They ended up choosing the biggest net possible. I chuckled as they paid.
‘’Hey Levi, do you have a football shirt?’’ Michael asked. Levi shook his head
‘’I used to, but it got lost’’ he shrugged
‘’Want a new one?’’. Levi’s head shot up and his eyes glistened
‘’Yeah!’’
‘’Then let’s get you an official one’’ Michael grinned at Levi and we headed back to the car, I’m guessing to drive to Old Trafford.
Yep, I was right. We pulled up in the players’ car park at Old Trafford. It was quite late and nobody was about apart from a couple of young lasses and their boyfriends. I jumped out of the car and Michael grabbed my hand, making my stomach do flips at his very touch. He looked at me lovingly before placing a kiss on my lips. We then carried on walking towards the Mega Store with Levi running happily in front of us. All was going well till he ran into someone and ended up on the floor. I let go of Michael’s hand and ran over to him, picking him up and placing him on my hip.
‘’It’s alright Levi, you’re not hurt are you?’’ I asked as he sobbed out his tears. He slowly stopped and sniffed, rubbing his knee. Michael soon joined us.
‘’Oh my God, it’s Michael Carrick! Can I get a picture with you please?’’ the girl Levi ran into asked, a huge smile on her face
‘’Yeah why not?’’ Michael smiled and took a picture with the girl and her boyfriend
‘’Thank you, you’ve made my day’’ she smiled
‘’Your very welcome’’ Michael said smiling. They then walked away.
‘’It’s amazing how simple something has to be to make someone happy’’ I said
‘’I know, and your simply beautiful’’ he said, kissing me softly. We pulled apart smiling in the glow of the red lights.
‘’Where’s Levi?’’ I said laughing. We looked around until we saw a little figure running into the shop. I looked at Michael and we both chuckled, running after him.
We walked into the shop and Michael guided us to the kids’ shirts. There was nobody else in the entire shop but us. We picked out Levi’s size in shirt and then took it over to the printing station.
‘’What name would you like on the back?’’ The man at the counter asked Levi
‘’Urm…Carrick!’’ he said grinning, the man smiled
‘’You want my name and number? Not Wayne’s?’’ Michael said, surprised
‘’Nope! Your my new favourite player’’ Levi giggled and Michael blushed
‘’Thanks mate’’ Levi gave Michael a high-five.
My life was finally working out.
