"Hold it, Rin." Her hands trembled. "Hold it!"

Her father's face was illuminated by the blinding light emitting from Rin's hands, his eyes reflecting his daughter's gorgeous quirk.

The Sports Festival was tomorrow and they were trying to squeeze in one last session to ensure she was prepared.

A ball glowed in her hands, fiery yellow and orange sparks erupting around it. She wore goggles, her eyes shut as she barely contained the glowing sphere in her fingers.

Ryu smirked as the yellow sphere transformed into a blinding white, his hand raising as he pointed to the fire resistant dummy nearby.

"Release!"

She straightened her figure, pulling one leg up so it connected with her arm before she baseball threw the sphere towards the dummy, the glowing dust and particles of the sphere swirling as it shot through the atmosphere.

A massive explosion erupted in the backyard of the Takahashi household when it collided with the dummy, the light of the supernova reflecting in her goggles.

When the white and yellow dust cleared, the remains of the dummy were left as nothing but ashes in a massive crater in the garden.

Rin stumbled back slightly, lifting up the goggles on her head as a huge smile glowed on her face.

"Keep that up and we won't have anything to worry about tomorrow." Ryu Takahashi commented, coming over and patting his daughter's back.

Rin's quirk was Stardust; an emitter and transformation quirk where her body was made of  100% of 'stardust' that she could manipulate to form varying star forms. One of the star forms she mostly used were supernovas in which she created stars with short lives and exploded them.

Her quirk seemed to be a more developed version of her late mother's, something Ryu really loved about Rin's quirk. And she felt the same way. Her quirk felt like some sort of special connection she and her mother shared.

"I doubt you'll lose, my star."

She gazed up at her father, basking in his warm words as he rubbed reassuring circles on her back.

She had to win.

For Ryu.

Rin stood in the centre of the arena, her arms folded to her chest as she peered up at the screen. It displayed the one-on-one battle match-ups for the last event of the day.

"I am stronger than you,"

Shoto's words to Midoriya echoed in Rin's conscience, plaguing what was supposed to be a clear and calm mind.

Rin was competitive by nature. She didn't like that side of herself given that she usually liked to have more humble and genuine reasons to motivate her beyond her own ego. But she couldn't help but let her pretentious and ambitious nature peer its ugly head when in a competitive setting as such.

She was determined to beat at least Shoto at all costs – 'at least' being a massive understatement knowing that her ego would want her to win the entire festival.

She had to prove to the world that she was the daughter of Icarus and Nova.

Besides, how dare Shoto announce such an opinion in front of their entire class. Sure, Rin wasn't very close acquaintances with any of them besides Jirou, but she didn't want to accept such a pompous declaration.

"Mina Ashido..." Rin muttered under her breath, reading the name of the person she was versing first.

"That's me!"

Rin turned around to see her pink-haired classmate peering over her head to look at the screen. She knew enough about her classmates to know that Ashido was probably not going to be very difficult to defeat, but that didn't make her quirk any less interesting and awe-inspiring to Rin.

"May the best girl win, Takahashi!" Ashido held her hand out to her, a bright smile on her face.

Rin took her hand, shaking it before mirroring her grin back.

She had to crush Mina Ashido.

Correction. She was going to crush Mina Ashido.

"Oi, can you two move?"

Rin was knocked out of her thoughts when the two girls' handshake was broken apart by none other than Katsuki Bakugou, the idiot who'd made a taunting speech on live television that vowed he would win.

Now that was someone who hated losing more than she did.

He was public enemy number two to Rin, especially now that she would have to fight him to be able to fight Shoto – this was assuming Shoto could beat everyone in his bracket.

"An 'excuse me' would be preferable, Bakugou." Rin elegantly retorted.

He clenched his teeth, an ugly expression on his face as he glared at her.

"Geez, how rude." Ashido rolled her eyes, lightly shoving Bakugou back with a grin on her face. "Catch you later, Takahashi."

Rin slightly smiled at the light-hearted girl, politely waving at her as she left.

"Who're you?" He snarled, Rin raising a brow.

They'd been classmates for at least three weeks. His words were a small hit to her ego.

"Rin Takahashi," she held a hand out for him to shake, her smile only widening. "The person who'll make you lose."

Bakugou scoffed. He didn't care that her parents were some big shots, Rin – in his eyes – didn't seem like a threat to him at all.

"Confident, aren't we?" He provoked, glancing at the screen to see he was versing Uraraka before he turned on his heel to leave the stadium. "Tell that shit to my face when you're actually up against me."

Rin smirked to herself, following after the explosive boy.

Now that was a foe she wanted to verse.

Maybe she was actually starting to have a bit of fun.
