"Don't! I'm going to fall!"

Rin only tightened her grip around Natsuo's neck, her legs around his waist as he tried to shake her off. It didn't help that Shoto had joined in, his body hauled over his older brother's shoulder as he stared with a dead expression at the floor.

The poor boy had been dragged into Rin and Natsuo's shenanigans, Natsuo being extra playful in hopes of cheering up the girl.

She had arrived at the Todoroki Household earlier that night with a chaffed nose and puffy eyes, clinging quietly to the back of Shoto's jacket. Fuyumi and Enji had been hesitant to ask her about how her visit went while Natsuo had playfully knocked the side of Shoto's head, claiming that Shoto had been the one to make her cry.

It had helped Rin feel a bit comfortable, resulting in the rambunctious laughter that erupted from the kitchen that night.

Enji and Fuyumi stood by the door. The father of the household still found the light-heartedness Rin brought to his house peculiar – no matter the amount of times he'd seen Rin and his children playing around earlier in the eye during the summer. Natsuo had even tucked away his intense grudge against Enji for the night just for Rin, opting to ignore him in hopes of keeping things civil.

"Please let me go." Shoto said in a stoic, defeated tone, his head hanging forward.

Rin burst out into laughter seeing his limp body being carried on the other side of Natsuo's body.

Natsuo let out a light chuckle, putting both the teens down before suffering a blow to the arm by Rin. Fuyumi snorted, finding their roughhousing childish – but she let them play around knowing they were making up for years of lost childhood.

"Alright, move so I can wash the dishes." Fuyumi came into the room, trying to nudge the trio out of the way of the sink.

Natsuo was quick to stand in front of the sink, "nope! Shoto will do it!"

Shoto rolled his eyes, "way to throw me under the bus."

Rin let out a soft smile, pecking Shoto's cheek before patting his arm.

"Both of you can do it together."

Shoto and Natsuo both groaned at her words, Rin grabbing Fuyumi's hand before they both cheekily left the two to clean up.

Enji lingered to watch the two boys lightly argue at the sink, a barely noticeable smile on his face before he shut the door behind him.

When he arrived at the living room, Rin was sitting alone on the couch while Fuyumi had disappeared to have a bath, his apprentice greeting him as he came over to take a seat in the adjacent couch.

Rin spun the little star of her necklace, her eyes focused on her slippers as she mentally debated saying anything else.

Dinner had actually been quite nice. Sure, Enji thought his relationship with his family was still insanely rocky and it showed. But, Rin wasn't used to having real family dinners. Her father would always be at work late so she would end up eating alone, and even if she'd been blessed with his presence, it was often silent or filled with discussions about her quirk.

The closest she'd ever gotten to a real family dinner was when her classmates were over to have dinner with her, but those were often chaotic.

This dinner had been light hearted and somewhat civil. The awkward glances at Enji had been noticeable, but she would never ask the Todoroki siblings to pretend that their relationship with Enji was perfect when they stretched themselves thin to have a dinner dedicated to her mother.
