If the audience that day knew that two explosion quirk users were going head to head at the festival today, they would've brought headphones to block out the booming rumbles erupting from the stadium.
It was almost unbearable to watch. Sure, the varying explosions on stage were gorgeous to witness, but there was no doubt that U.A. would be paying for many hearing checkups after the event was over.
Fortunately for the audience, the two students below were momentarily silent.
Rin clenched her side where she was slightly hunched over, a huge wound on her right rib where Bakugou had blasted an explosion to her side. Her lungs felt cold whenever she inhaled and exhaled, her breathing rapid as she tried to catch her breath.Bakugou was in a similar state, his hands cramping as blood leaked from his shoulder where she'd gotten him with a supernova.
The fight felt meaningless, as if the two were fighting so hard only for both of them to get equally injured. It was like fighting fire with fire; it all just became one massive fire that no one would tame.
But, of course, their movements had a lot more precision than fire.
From first glance, Bakugou was flashy and impulsive. But he had crazy control over his quirk; unexpectedly precise and had a lot more jurisdiction over his quirk than his own emotions.
He was difficult to defeat, she had to admit. Rin had to find another way to fight him because spots began to appear in her vision the more she used her quirk, blinding her slightly without her support goggles.
Being the overachieving girl she was, Rin had curated a plan for each of her classmates in the event that she were to verse any of them one-on-one during the festival. And she of course had a plan for Bakugou, but it was risky.
A risk worth taking.
Bakugou blasted towards her, Rin clenching her teeth as she raised her right hand where her fingers mimicked a gun. Orange, fiery balls shot from her fingers as hot sparks and beams disintegrated from them.
Yet, he skillfully manoeuvred his body around the shooting stars, avoiding the rapid fire of her quirk as he flew closer to her.
He aimed towards her stomach, an explosion popping in his palm as a victorious smile lit up his face.
Taking advantage of how close he came to her, she formed a supernova in her hand before she wielded it fearlessly towards his hand that had an explosion in it.
Despite how his hand popped, her arm somehow slipped through his explosion, the boy having to instantly blow himself away from her instead.
She collided with the ground as he skidded to a stop from afar, her body only centimetres from rolling out of bounds. Too distracted to even notice how close he was to winning, Bakugou held his wrist that was burned, scarlet blood leaking from his palm.
He'd just narrowly missed getting his hand exploded off.
Bakugou sent her an astounded look.
While he was aiming to blast her stomach to disarm her, Rin had been aiming to explode his hand off.
A crazy smile lit up on his face.
Finally, someone who came at him with the intent to mutilate him.
Bakugou secretly wanted Rin to get back up. He finally met his match – it was like he was finally able to verse the previous Number Three Hero herself, the very hero that inspired how Bakugou used his quirk.
