Jason's POV

I drove at the fastest speed of my blue Ferrari sports car. The drive home was smooth because the nippy night made the highway and the streets void of cars.

The large white gates opened to usher me into sky house. I slowed down as I drove through the driveway and to the garage to park my car.

It was night and the compound and its surroundings are dead. The solar lights installed in strategic places lit up the compound giving it a beautiful night view, and the water rushing from the fountain added life to the compound. Asides that, I could hear the chirping of birds and I could feel the cool night breeze.

When I looked up at the mansion I noticed that lights were off except from my father's office where I could see light coming from. I was relieved, knowing that Mabel would be asleep. I knew that I wasn't ready to answer what ever questions she has.

With one last glance at the fleet of cars parked against the wall and shaded under a canopy, I threw my keys into my pocket and headed into the house.

My father's office was on the first floor, mine was on the second floor. He usually entertained some business partners here in the tea room and we also had a conference room here at home.

My warm hands pulled the cold steel knob after I knocked to announce my presence. My father was too busy a man to answer to knocks.

I noticed how his office was luminated by the coloured light, that added a sense of beauty to it. It made me wonder how he managed to see and was able to work in a place where the light is barely sufficient. I could tell that he wasn't doing much work because he sat behind his desk with his legs crossed and no file on his table. I only saw a pen lying next to an empty piece of paper. There were nights like this when my dad would sit on his throne and restrategise on how to expand his empire, he would also reflect.

"Seat." My old man said and I nodded, drawing out the swivel chair opposite him and sitting.

I was silent, waiting for him to tell me the reason I was here. "Where were you?" He intertwined his fingers and placed it on the table.

"I was having drinks with my friend."

He chuckled dryly, his laugh had no warmth: my dad lost his charm a long time ago.

"What a pleasant lie!" He released his fingers and looked up at me, our eyes made a contact which I broke immediately.

"The only reason why a married man wouldn't be home by this time is because he and his wife have issues."

I glanced at him and I saw no emotions in his eye. Uncomfortably, I adjusted in my seat, clenching my jaw.

"I see you and your wife avoiding each other."

How do I tell this man that he's not wrong in any way?

"How long will it take you to know your place as a man, as her husband? And use it?"

This is where I am lost. "I don't understand..."

He scoffed and I was starting to feel the heat between us even on this air conditioned office but I wasn't sweating, no.

"You seem like you have not embraced reality yet, Jason there
is no going back." He drummed his fingers on the table. "If you don't accept this, how will she?"

I breathed out, a huff escaping my lips. "I will dad, at the right time." I tried to sound as gentle as possible even though I wasn't buying his rubbish.
